62. CMBEASY
CMBEASY is a C++ code with GUI for calculation of CMB power spectra and other density fluctuation evolution data for a given cosmology.
http://www.cmbeasy.org/
Home Features Screenshots Documentation ... Authors Welcome to CMBEASY Welcome to the Homepage of CMBEASY. CMBEASY is a software package for calculating the evolution of density fluctuations in the universe. Most notably, the Cosmic Microwave Background temperature anisotropies. It features a Markov Chain Monte Carlo driver and many routines to compute likelihoods of any given model. CMBEASY is fast, accurate and comes with many useful features. Version 4.4.1 is out. See the news below. The code is based on the CMBFAST package by Uros Seljak and Matias Zaldarriaga. Without their donation of the CMBFAST package to the public domain, CMBEASY would not exist. Even though its ancestor is a Fortran program, CMBEASY is fully object oriented C++. This considerably simplifies manipulations and extensions of the code. In addition, a powerfull Spline class can be used to easily store and visualize data. Many features of the CMBEASY package are also accessible via a graphical user interface. This may be helpful for gaining intuition, as well as for instruction purposes.

Astronomy Software and Freeware Downloads
Astronomy software covers a wide range of educational programs and applications to make sky gazing easier and more successful. In addition to buying astronomy software, you can also make use of freeware programs available online for the computer-savvy astronomer.
Astronomy Software Types
Astronomy software is a broad term that refers to a number of different types of astronomy software that each has very specific functions:
  • Planetarium astronomy software produces maps of the night sky that can be printed and taken to star watches. The best planetarium astronomy software can create sky maps for any location on the planet.
Related to planetarium software are "object specific" imaging programs that focus on one specific celestial object, such as the moon, a planet or a nebula.
Telescope control astronomy software refers to an application that allows the user to remotely control a telescope, which is especially important during astrophotography. Some of the best astronomy software allows users to control telescopes in professional observatories.
Other forms of astronomy software include:
  • astronomy planners and viewing logs moon phase calculators moon, sun and planet rise calculators

http://www.shatters.net/celestia/
Welcome to Celestia ... The free space simulation that lets you explore our universe in three dimensions. Celestia runs on Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X.
Unlike most planetarium software, Celestia doesn't confine you to the surface of the Earth. You can travel throughout the solar system, to any of over 100,000 stars, or even beyond the galaxy. All movement in Celestia is seamless; the exponential zoom feature lets you explore space across a huge range of scales, from galaxy clusters down to spacecraft only a few meters across. A 'point-and-goto' interface makes it simple to navigate through the universe to the object you want to visit. Celestia is expandable. Celestia comes with a large catalog of stars, galaxies, planets, moons, asteroids, comets, and spacecraft. If that's not enough, you can download dozens of easy to install add-ons with more objects. 78. ASTRONOMY SOFTWARE
ASTRONOMY SOFTWARE. In the accompanying photos are a new astronomy software package called TheSky and a sample chart view generated by the program.
http://er.jsc.nasa.gov/seh/pg104s95.html
ASTRONOMY SOFTWARE In the accompanying photos are a new astronomy software package called TheSky and a sample chart view generated by the program. TheSky is part of a software family that incorporates NASA astronomy technology developed for the Hubble Space Telescope. The family includes, in addition to TheSky, the SkyPro image processing program and the Remote Astronomy Software for running a telescope and imaging system. The programs were developed by Software Bisque, Golden, Colorado with NASA input, in particular the 19-million-object database compiled for the Hubble Space Telescope. With TheSky, amateur and professional astronomers can quickly plot any of the Hubble data onto the computer screen. Dozens of commands make it easy to locate any area of the sky; the software presents a wide angle view that identifies each constellation and bright object. As shown above, the astronomer can use a mouse to zoom in on any zone of the view presented. The companion SkyPro CCD Astronomy Software is a Windows-based image processing program that also controls CCD (charge coupled device) cameras, transforming raw CCD data into imagery and extracting hidden information. TheSky and SkyPro work in tandem to orchestrate locating, identifying, and acquiring images of deep sky objects. With TheSky, SkyPro and the Remote Astronomy Software, a user can directly control computer-driven telescopes and CCD cameras through computer serial ports. Telescope support is provided for a number of different types of instruments.

http://www.anumajor.com/astrofly/index.html
W elcome to Project AstroFly
AstroFly is a software project, which is intended for educational use; thus, if you are interested in astrophysics, it may help you to expand your knowledge about our Universe. Its main purpose is to present the three-dimensional models of our neighborhood in our own Milky Way Galaxy on a personal computer. The 3D models are based on the remarkable Hipparcos and Tycho Catalogues , which are the products of the European Space Agency 's Hipparcos Space Astrometry Mission
Because of the "CAD-style" approach explained in the next section, an observer is not bound to our Earth in this software; moreover, the Earth itself and all other non-stellar objects are not concerned by AstroFly.
More info: History Features Examples Download ... Feedback
P roject's History
After we had obtained the Hipparcos and Tycho Catalogues in 1998, we started to import the 3D coordinates of stars into a Computer Aided Design (CAD) system in order to create a 3D visual model and to enjoy the so called "fly-through" feature. Because any change in a set of displayed stars required a new process of converting and importing data into a CAD system, we decided to develop a special application, which would be able to filter stars dynamically by many parameters and provide some useful features of CAD systems.
Although the development is very complicated and slow (the biggest troubles are described in the AstroFly Help ), the current version of AstroFly contains a lot of interesting features, and we hope that some new ideas will follow. Currently, we are trying to develop a new edition of AstroFly
