Egypts rock drawings 15000 years old clipped by: sohil
Clip Source: timesofindia.indiatimes.com Archaeologists claim to have discovered Egypts oldest known rock face drawings and etchings, dating back 15, 000 years ago, in the village of Qurta, some 400 miles south of capital, Cairo The drawings are similar in age and style to the iconic Stone Age paintings in Lascaux, France, and Altamira, Spain, they have said "The style is riveting. The art is unlike anything seen elsewhere in Egypt," added Salima Ikram of the American University in Cairo, who was part of Huyges team. According to the researchers, the engravings were chiselled into sandstone cliff faces at the Qurta. Of the more than 160 figures found so far, most depict wild bulls. The biggest is nearly six feet (two meters) wide, they said. "The drawings push Egyptian art, religion, and culture back to a much earlier time," National Geographic quoted Ikram as saying. The teams findings will be published in the September issue of the journal Antiquity.

Aztec History
Dig into the mysteries of Aztec history right here! What was ancient Aztec art and culture like? What about the Aztec religion? And the legendary Aztec sacrifices?
The city of Tenochitlan was soon to become one of the largest cities in the world. The power of the Mexica peoples became more consolidated, and they began to form alliances. Their military power grew as well, and they began to conquer peoples in the surrounding areas.
At the height of its power the Aztec Empire was organized and strong, but ruled with fear. In 1519, a clash of cultures was to take place, unlike anything before it. Although there was much tragedy in both the Spanish and Aztec empires before this, the meeting of the two civilizations was disastrous. In a few short years, the culture and structure of one of histories greatest empires would have virtually vanished.

ass umed by the bearers of the Classic Mesoamerican culture. The earliest we know about the Mexica is that they migrated from the north into the Valley of Mexico as early as the twelfth century AD, well after the close of the Classic Period in Mesoamerica. They were a subject and abject people, forced to live on the worst lands in the valley. They adopted the cultural patterns (called Mixteca-Pueblo) that originated in the culture of Teotihuacán, so the urban culture they built in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries is essentially a continuation of Teotihuacán culture. from the north. The Mexica were, then, originally Chichimec when they migrated into Mexico, but eventually became Toltecs proper.
