We are Mohawk and of the turtle clan and have lived on Six Nations Reserve all our lives. We started doing bead work and loom work initially, then we got into moccasin making. Later my mother expanded her knowledge and start sewing the traditional outfits. Needless to say, we do a variety of crafts and are always looking for something new to try. My mother has recently opened up her own craft shop located at 937 Third Line Rd on Six Nations Reserve.

Making shavings is definitely one of the most satisfying pastimes!
Finding the shape that I know is inside the piece of wood I am turning, always gives me a thrill - to a non-woodturner, that might seem very sad!
I love the feel of wood, the pattern of grain and the magic when you apply the finish - and the wood glows.
I have turned 'useful' items - but I enjoy the creative freedom I get when designing bowls and platters. I incorporate a variety of other craft techniques to make artistic pieces that I truly enjoy. I hope that you will browse my galleries and see the kind of work that I produce - and enjoy it too.
I have written a few hints about how I achieve a certain result, but if you want to know more, please get in touch.
Some of my pieces are for sale. If you see something that you like that is not for sale, I do undertake commissions. Page last updated 26/08/10

70. How To Create A Beaded Bezel Cabochon
A beginner-to-intermediate seed bead project written by Ann Brodrick.
http://beadwork.joust.net/BeadedBezelCabochon.html
This article was 1st published in the October 1998 issue of Lapidary Journal in the Jewelry Journal section. Beaded Bezel Cabochon
by Ann Brodrick Beginner-to-intermediate seed bead project.
TOOLBOX Malachite Cabochon, any size round or oval
Scrap of soft leather large enough to put cabochon on and still hold comfortably in your hands while you work
Tube of bronze matte Delica seed beads
Tube of dark cream matte Delica seed beads
Size 11 sharp leather needle
Beading thread
Glue
Sharp scissors This variation on the tubular peyote technique creates a beaded bezel that will not only hold a cabochon securely but also will add beauty to whatever type of cab you choose: stone, glass or porcelain. The piece can then be embellished with fringe or accent beads and turned into a pin or necklace. Or as an alternative, you can apply the cabochon directly to a leather pouch or jacket, choosing colors that will highlight your central piece. To make this piece, knowledge of the tubular peyote technique is necessary. STEP 1.

Founded in 1992 in Royal Oak, Mi, we are a non-profit organization of about 300 members in Southeast Michigan who meet at least monthly in meetings and classes to learn more about all aspects of beadwork. Twice a year we sponsor the Bead Bonanza, a one-day bead show and sale to keep bead coffers in the area well filled. The Bead Bonanza is open to the public and is a great day for bead lovers everywhere to gather, gaze, and purchase. Members of the GLBG receive a bi-monthly newsletter, The Beader Reader" with news of upcoming programs and classes. Members also get priority in registrations for workshops with visiting, nationally known instructors. For a peak at our newsletter, here is a teaser to look at:

Hello! My name is Susan Aguirre and I live in St. Paul, Minnesota, USA. I am so glad that you decided to visit my beadwork pages. I have found a lot of satisfaction in doing beadwork, it has brought many happy hours of quiet meditation time, as well as great fun when I have had the chance of getting together with beading friends like the members of the Upper Midwest Bead Society and lately with The Bead Ladies I call my beadwork Healing because I am a Reiki Master/Teacher. Reiki is a Japanese form of hands-on-healing that is wonderful. I use the Reiki energy while doing normal activities such as housework, cooking, driving, and of course, beadwork. Whenever I bead I am sending healing to individuals or infusing the beadwork with healing energy. Would you like to bring healing into your beadwork?
