How to Create Talented Individuals?
26 August 2008 by kenlyen How Does One Create Highly Talented Individuals? The 2008 Beijing Olympics has been awe-inspiring. Incredible world records have been broken. Brilliant sportsmen like Michael Phelps from the USA, and Usain Bolt from Jamaica have held us spellbound. Even Singapore grabbed a little bit of the limelight when it won a silver medal in table tennis. Never mind many of our table tennis players were born and bred in China. One of the excuses given as to why Singapore has not produced its own international talent is that Singapore has too small a population. The theory is that geniuses are produced in a sort of mathematical ratio of one per x million population. This cannot be true. Take Jamaica, for example. It only has a population of 2.8 million, and yet it has recently won 11 Olympic medals, compared to Singapore’s one medal. Even Ireland, New Zealand, and Croatia, with a population slightly smaller than Singapore have won more medals. And it is not confined to just Olympic medals, but right across the board, including Nobel prizes and outstanding artists and filmmakers, and scientists. Singapore lags behind in all these fields.

Of course it would be raining. Not a heavy, cleansing rain that leaves the streets steaming and the neatly sculptured yards lush and fragrant. This is a gray drizzling rain. A rain that makes him think of places like England and Scotland as they appear in those disturbing late night films on cable, the ones in black and white that weren't particularly memorable when they were made and are even less so now. Still, it rains and the air is cool. All he has to shelter him is a think nylon jacket. The jacket is soaked. It feels both chilly and coarse against his skin. His hair hangs in flat and sodden wings, falling into his eyes. It's long in the back, almost to his shoulders, and he thinks that the cars that pass him on the street, the occupants of those cars, might look at him and see only that he is wet and not that he is dirty as well. Can they tell that his hair has been unwashed for days? That his clothes are the same ones he's worn for more than a week? It doesn't matter. He's invisible to them as soon as they pass, taking any assumptions they might make with them. They might just mistake him for one of those hoity-toity college kids, one of those clean limbed and beaming have's who has happened to find himself caught out without his umbrella.

Dog Coprophagia Treatment through Canine Behavior Modification
Dogs Behavior Dog coprophagia is the behavior of a dog eating his own feces. This is a normal behavior in the wild as dogs often have to consume nutrients from feces when there is no other food available. However, behavior modification is successful in eliminating the behavior.
Why Dogs Eat Feces
Eating feces is a normal part of puppy development as they learn how to live in the world. Most will break the habit by the time they are a year old. However, not all puppies will learn not to eat feces, which is quite appalling to their owners. Canines are scavengers, which means they eat whatever will provide them with nutrients. On a slow hunting day, this might be feces. Since there are unprocessed nutrients in most feces, it can be a sufficient meal. This may continue in captivity because a dog isn't getting enough nutrients from his diet. Many commercial diets are low-quality, filled with cheap fillers that your dog can't digest such as corn, wheat and meat byproducts. Before beginning a behavior modification program, consult your veterinarian to check for illness and change your dog's diet to a food higher in protein. Dogs may also engage in coprophagia because the yard never gets clean, so they try to dispose of old feces. They may do it because they are bored or because it gets them attention.

    What Keeps Cats off Furniture?
By Jamie Conrad eHow Contributor updated: July 19, 2010 I want to do this! What's This? Try behavior modification to keep your cat off furniture. watching cat image by Colin Buckland from Fotolia.com Cats on the furniture causes big problems in some households. By understanding the psychology behind keeping cats off of furniture and by implementing a few new strategies, you can make life easier in your home and keep your cats comfortable at the same time.
    Ineffective Methods
  • Yelling at or hitting your cat will not teach your cat to stay off of the furniture. It only teaches the cat to be afraid of you. Stick to methods that allow you and your cat to remain friends and keep your furniture cat-free.
  • Make It Uncomfortable
  • Make the furniture uncomfortable for your cat by temporarily laying aluminum foil, cardboard or double-sided sticky tape on the places your cat likes to sit. Your cat will eventually get tired of the uncomfortable furniture and find somewhere else to relax.
