Jesus Of Nazareth Author: Arthur Wallis
A treatise on the historical existence of Jesus of Nazareth. The author deals with Christ as the Redeemer and Judge, His character and His claims all substantiated by Scripture. He explains how one can know, trust and worship Christ.
Early on Mr. Wallis sets the stage with questions that have troubled believers and unbelievers alike, from the earliest of times, concerning the Person of Christ, that he ultimately answers giving the scriptural basis for his beliefs: . . .The New Testament provides the only original account in existence of Christ and His teaching. It is not our present purpose to inquire into the claims of the Bible to be the Word of God - that has been fully and ably done by many others - but accepting its veracity, to discover its teaching concerning Jesus of Nazareth. Retracing Biblical History
The biblical history of humankind starts with Adam (pbuh) and Eve, and this is where we first encounter associations with the land of Jordan. Some early biblical interpretations linked Adam and Eve with the area of the Jordan River and the Jordan Valley. They located the Garden of Eden along the banks of the Jordan River, in the northern Jordan Valley near Wadi Rayyan on the eastern bank and Baysan (Beth-shean) on the western bank of the river. This is not surprising, given the area's lush vegetation and rich animal life. In the book of Genesis, God calls the Jordan Valley plain around the Dead Sea " the Garden of the Lord " (Genesis 13:10). Some early biblical traditions interpret the Genesis 2:10 account of a river that " flowed out of Eden to water the garden " as a description of the upper Jordan River and the Jordan Valley. After being expelled from the Garden of Eden, these traditions say, Adam stood in the waters of the Jordan River for 40 days, praying and begging forgiveness from God. Other early biblical interpretations suggested that when Cain killed his brother Abel and was banished by God to the area "

9. Jaffa
A Biblical history of the city.
http://www.ctsp.co.il/LBS pages/LBS_jaffa.htm
Jaffa Jaffa is the oldest and perhaps most famous of the ports along the Israel’s coast. From Jaffa port, the Bible records that the prophet Jonah set sail for Tarshish, running away when the Lord commanded him to preach in the wicked city of Nineveh. When a storm threatened to wreck the ship the sailors threw Jonah into the water. He was swallowed by a whale, and remained there for three days and three nights. [2 Jonah 1:1-3:1]. Jaffa’s port is like no other in the world, for twice it hosted shipments of wood for temples built in Jerusalem. King Hiram of Tyre sent wood for the First Temple on a raft to Jaffa. " we will cut all the logs from Lebanon that you need and will float them in rafts by sea down to Joppa. You can then take them up to Jerusalem ." And when wood was needed for the Second Temple it, too, arrived by way of Jaffa. " Then they gave money to the masons and carpenters, and gave food and drink and oil to the people of Sidon and Tyre, so that they would bring cedar logs by sea from Lebanon to Joppa, as authorized by Cyrus king of Persia" [Ezra 3:7].

    14. Caesarea
A Biblical history of the city.
    http://www.ctsp.co.il/LBS pages/LBS_caesarea.htm

    Caesarea Maritima
Herod the Great ruled the Land of Israel from 37 to 4 B.C. During that time he constructed a large port city called Caesarea to honor Roman Caesar Augustus. The project was built on the remains of an earlier Phoenician city called Strato’s tower. Once it was completed Caesarea took on even more importance than Jerusalem and became the heart of Roman rule in the land. Herod built a port in the bay, and erected all the cultural institutions found in every great Greco-Roman city a theater, a hippodrome, and a luxurious bathhouse. In order to supply water to the city’s ever-growing population, he prepared an aqueduct system stretching from the springs of Mt. Carmel to Caesarea. Part of this system is still visible today. The book of Acts refers repeatedly to the city Peter visited Caesarea (Acts 10); Paul was held prisoner in Caesarea for two years (Acts 23:23-23:30), while awaiting trial. It was from here Paul sailed to Rome (Acts 27:1). Origen and Eisehous were both important Christians of Caesarea. The city was eventually destroyed by the Moslem invasions of 638. About 400 years later, the Crusaders conquered the Holy Land. Genoese fleet set up a command port on the ruins of the former city. Then dependent on a constant maritime connection to Europe, they fortified the city, using parts of Herod’s destroyed buildings and turned it into one of their main bastions along the Mediterranean coast.

    17. Modi
A Biblical history of the city.
    http://www.ctsp.co.il/LBS pages/LBS_modiin.htm
Modi’in Greek Seleucids ruled the Land of Israel during the 2nd century B.C. Their pagan culture and foreign ways placed them in direct conflict with the Jewish population. Though difficult life went on, until Antiochus IV called "Epipanes" took over the reigns of the Empire. He banned Jewish practices and, since he believed that he was a god in human form, he expected the populace to worship before his statues. When his soldiers of Antiochus attempted to make the Jews sacrifice a pig on an altar. Tension exploded into a countrywide revolt. Leading the revolt were the five sons of Mattathias, a priest who lied in Modi’in, a village of the Shephela. Aware that they couldn’t possibly overcome the Greeks with conventional military tactics, the rebels adopted guerilla strategies and managed to destroy one Seleucid army after another. The revolt culminated in the purification and rededication of the Temple, and the rebirth of an independent Jewish kingdom in the Promised Land. Every year Jews all over the world celebrate this victory with the holiday of Hanukkah, [John 10]. Monumental tombs were built in Modi’in, or the death of each warrior brother. Tombs uncovered in the region have been traditionally held to be the tombs of the Maccabees. Probable because of a motion when calling people to fight, one of the sour (Judas) took the title "the Hasmonians" (Maccabee).

Who is Israel? A Biblical History of Israel
Galatians There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. There is no question in my mind whether or not the Nation of Israel will play a unique and specific role in End Times events . One only need look in her direction to see that she is a major focus in politics, war, and religion. The question I and many others have is whether or not God has seperate plans for the people of Israel as opposed to the people of Christ. This distinction (or the lack thereof) is critical in forming the various interpretations of Eschatological Scripture , that is, the parts of The Holy Bible relating to The Last Days and the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ . In this part of the study we are specifically interested in a Biblical History of Israel . See Part I, Finding The Church in the Old Testament , for more on the relationship between Old and New Testament Saints. It is made very clear in the book of Revelation that there will be believers still on the Earth throughout the Great Tribulation . These are believers in the redeeming work of Jesus Christ on the cross and His resurrection from the dead. These believers are referred to as servants of our God Revelation saints Revelation Revelation Revelation the remnant Revelation ), and

    20. Tiberias
A Biblical history of the city.
    http://www.ctsp.co.il/LBS pages/LBS_tiberias.htm
Tiberias Tiberias is 2,000 years old, constructed by Herod Antipas around the year 20. The city was dedicated to the Roman Caesar Tiberius, and is mentioned only in passing in the Gospels: " Then some boats from Tiberias landed near the place where the people had eaten the bread after the Lord had given thanks ." [John 6:23]. The historian Josephus Flavius reports in his book "The Jewish War" that during the Great Revolt against the Romans the inhabitants of Tiberias surrendered to the Romans without a fight. After the Second Temple was destroyed in 70, Tiberias became such an important center of learning that it rivaled the great centers of Babylon. The Jewish courts (Sanhedrin) moved to Tiberias, and it is there that most of the Jerusalem Talmud was edited. Some of history’s most important rabbis are buried in and around Tiberias. One is Moses Maimonides, a Jewish legal expert, scholar, philosopher and doctor indisputably one of the greatest minds ever produced by the Jewish people. Another is the gentle and incredibly learned Rabbi Akiva, who actively encouraged brave guerilla fighter Simon Bar-Kochba to rebel against the Romans a second time (132-135). Excavations carried out on a mountain slope across from Tiberias uncovered an 8 th -century Christian church. Below this well-preserved site archeologists also dug up foundations - and a mosaic floor - from a church built 200 years earlier and destroyed in the earthquake of 749.
