Expert: Walter Hintz Question Hello, I have recently "inherited" a 7th grade biology class. I'm not a biology teacher but since nobody else was willing/availble, I'm *it* for the rest of the academic year. Our first topic will be respiration, leading into smoking and then other drugs (excluding alcohol, which was covered last semester). Later we will look at cells and then at the brain, the process of learning etc.

    • Spiders: An Organism for Teaching Biology (by Debora Scheidemantel)
Students explore basic ecology concepts and scientific processes using spiders as model organisms. They will capture spiders, observe and care for them, and use them to answer their own questions about spider behavior. Modeling the process of a research scientist, each team of students will design and conduct their own experiment. Simultaneously, the class will collaborate on joint projects investigating feeding rates of spiders and their importance in controlling the numbers of insects (by conducting a field study on or near school grounds). Designed for both middle and high school students
      The Behavior of Ants
      (by David Shindelman)
Middle school students will use the steps of the Scientific Method to independently develop and test their own ideas through experimentation with ants. Students will take part in a four-part study of the behavior of ants.

    High School Biology Lessons
There are many benefits in having great lesson plans in your biology classes . Biology can be many students favorite high school class. By the time students have reached high school; many students have already developed their preferred learning styles. Students learn faster and retain more when the educational curriculum matches their preferred learning styles. Many students become bored with high school because teachers use only a few or one teaching method. With great biology lessons , students who were bored with high school may become interested in your class. When students are more interested and earn better grades, they may start feeling successful in high school . Students self esteem increases when they feel they are truly learning. The student-teacher relationship will improve when students are successful and participating on assignments.
