Welcome to the Steiner Birding Web Site
It is our pleasure to welcome you to Steiner-birding.com, Steiner's web site dedicated exclusively to Steiner binoculars designed for birding and nature observation. Steiner's birding binoculars, the Merlin and Peregrine series have optics that transmit the most natural colors and the best low light performance in the optics industry. We mean "natural" colors so you will be able to make discoveries of new species faster and easier. Of course, optimum brightness is absolutely necessary when you glass in the shade, under branches or in the shadows of twilight. Steiner-Germany specializes in making lenses for specific applications: For example lenses for hunters that transmit the color of game animals and hold the color of green foliage back. Lenses for birders that transmit the most natural colors and reveal the slightest color differences across the whole range of bird colors. Lenses for boaters that cut out glare on the water, and "Nighthunter" lenses that let military see at night without the use of electronics. Steiner-Germany is the leading specialized binocular manufacturer. Steiner only makes binoculars and is the only true "binocular specialist" today. Our optics and binoculars are produced in our modern factory in Bayreuth, in northeastern Bavaria, Germany.

53. Birding In Egypt
birding in Egypt is a guide to the Egyptian ornithology and the official OSME checklist of the birds of Egypt.
http://birdinginegypt.com/
  • Egypt
    Dear Visitor,
The aims of this website are many: most obviously, it is for ornithologists who have an interest in Egyptian avifaunal records. However, it is also for amateur birdwatchers and for beginners who have started birding as a pastime in which they have developed an interest. Moreover, and arguably its primary aim, it is intended to be a source of information and assistance for all, but especially the people of Egypt. It is understandable that anyone not familiar with deserts might imagine that they are featureless and of little natural history interest. One of our main goals is to promote interest and knowledge of this amazing piece of the Earth, by trying to widen knowledge of the living creatures that live in it, or pass through it. The desert avifauna is of considerable importance in itself. However, it is also important because, compared with most other organisms, birds can be observed and recorded comparatively easily, and for selected species, annual variation in numbers relates directly to the health of the habitat. The use of such data to monitor the health of ecological niches is now well-established at government level in some countries, and serves as an example of how to improve all biodiversity conservation efforts. The website enables researchers (whether Egyptian, resident foreigners, or travelling birders) to be interconnected through our mailing list. It also provides them with sound basic information in the form of an accessible list of the governmental and non-governmental institutions in Egypt that have an involvement in environmental affairs.

The Heard has been awarded The Audubon Society's designation as an important birding area. Texas has preeminence as a bird-watching area due to its placement on major migratory paths. However, The Heard offers special opportunities for bird-watching by providing a unique resource in a large metropolitan area. Dedicated volunteers and hobbyists aid The Heard in participating in on-going scientific work in bird banding and annual bird counts. Checklist of Heard Sanctuary Birds Heard Birding Activities

The Heard operates a bird banding station on the wildlife sanctuary that monitors the flow of migrant songbirds during spring and fall migration each year. The station was established in 1978 and is the oldest bird banding station in the state of Texas. During the summer months the banding station actively participates in the MAPS program (Monitoring Avian Productivity and Survivorship).

According to US Fish and Wildlife Service, there are currently 51.3 million birders in the United States alone, and this number continues to grow! Welcome to Audubon’s online guide to becoming a better birder. This site was created in response to the many questions we receive from people who would like to become more proficient birders and get more out of this unique and growing hobby. To begin birding, all you need are three items: Binoculars, a field guide and a blank notebook. Having a friend that has more experience in birding can also be helpful. But just as important, you need patience. Birding can be a challenging activity because birds are naturally skittish. However, the rewards are well worth it; few other activities can bring such a sense of wonder, satisfaction, connecting with nature, as well as peaceful solitude in today’s busy world.
