Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens The sheltered, landscaped grounds of the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens hold historic plant collections and a large number of significant trees, many dating from the nineteenth century. It also has an increasing number of important conservation collections of Tasmanian plants and the world's only Subantarctic Plant House. Prior to European settlement local Aboriginal tribes used the site, and traces of their occupation are still apparent. A number of historic structures, including two convict-built walls, date back to the Gardens' earliest days. The Botanical Gardens Restaurant, in one of the loveliest locations for any restaurant in Tasmania, combines with an extensive program of activities and events as well as year-round displays combine to offer the visitor a great Tasmanian experience.
Master Classes
The Gardens are proud to present our new horticulture and living adult education programs, the Gardens Master Classes. They represent the beginnings of an exciting chapter for learning in the Gardens and have been developed with the needs of the community at their heart. The new programs feature outstanding experiences with some of Tasmania’s leading specialists and professionals in their fields who provide engaging, informative and highly memorable learning experiences.

Information on 18-acre site in Colt Park, Hartford, proposed to be developed into a botanic garden.
http://www.hartfordbotanicalgarden.org/
Welcome to the Hartford Botanical Garden. A series of successful public meetings in 2006 helped shaped the vision of the garden. Your ideas and feedback from the meetings will be held in consideration during our master planning process. In December, 2006 we were successful in raising the funds needed to match a grant from the Connecticut Trust for Historic Preservation. This allows us to move into Phase II of the master planning process, and our planning committee has already rolled up its sleeves. While we are steadily moving forward, funds are still needed to finish Phase II and move into Phase III. We need your support to ensure the success of bringing a world class botanical garden to Hartford, Connecticut! Here's how to help
