3. Religion | Build The Open Shelves Classification | LibraryThing
Clumping is different than grouping, which is particularly hard with religion! The Brazilian/African religions are a perfect example of this.

Ebisu
Ebisu is one of the Japanese "Seven Gods of Luck" (Shichi-Fukujin). He is the patron god of fishermen. He is usually depicted carrying a fishing pole and his catch of the day.
Eos
Eros

Eros was the son of Chaos and the brother of Gaia, Tartarus, Erebus and Nyx. He was also the attendant or the son of Aphrodite and lover of Psyche. In early mythology he was represented as one of the primeval forces of nature. His actions were the source of the irresitible attraction between people known as love. In ancient Rome he was adopted into their pantheon as Cupid. Only in the writings of Euripides are his arrows mentioned, and there only as a metaphor. The Trojan War began when the daughter of Zeus, Helen, was smitten by Eros arrow. In the blind madness of love, she abandoned her husband, took her bridal dowry and sailed off to Troy with her lover, Alexandros. The enchantment wore off after the sack of Troy, for we find Helen at home with her rightful husband Menelaos. She blamed her folly on Zeus, who, we can assume, now commands Eros.

10. Daniel Pellizzari Refutes Madison's Claims
Brazilian african religions are the result of many influences besides Yoruba myth, and hermetic black magic is one of them, along with portuguese folklore, native religions
http://www.necronomi.com/projects/madison/danp.html
First Refutation
I'm a brazilian magician, and even though I'm not an initiate of african-syncretic religions, I'm on direct contact with them since I was a child - as almost any brazilian, even those from regions of massive european colonization. I attended to a vast number of circles from many brazilian branches of this tradition: Candomble, Macumba, Quimbanda, Nacao, Umbanda and Xango. I have many friends who are initiates of one of this branches, and sometimes I even use some african-syncretic elements on my practice. The recent postings about NYC Voudu, Pomba Gira Botanica and Madison caught my attention. This woman claims familiarity with brazilian african-syncretic religions, but doesn't seem to have a minimal notion about Candomble, Quimbanda or any of the branches. Let's choose a Madison's text. Here it goes: > Sat. Aug 24th at 3pm there will be a circle for Pomba Gira, the > Brazillian goddess of sex, death and the crossroads. This will > be a circle of dance and positive physical transcendence, >(Overcoming obstacles and broadening perspectives.) (NYC Vodou.) > Please bring food, drink, spiritual books for the free lending >library and canned food the homeless if possible. Please be >clean sane and sober. Seven lines, lots of nonsense.
