The history of the Jews in the Canadian military and of their exploits and experiences dispels the myth that Jews have not contributed their share in the Canadian Armed Forces. This includes the Boer War (1899-1902), WWI (1914-1918), WWII (1939-1945), and the Korean War (1950-1953), as well as Canada's ongoing peacekeeping activities throughout the world. Since 1759, when it is documented that Jews fought with General James Wolfe, members of the Jewish community have participate in every significant conflict that has involved Canada. In the past century, Canadian Jewry, along with the rest of the Allies, under the shadow of the Holocaust, helped liberate Europe. Our Museum pays everlasting tribute to the thousands of Jewish men and women in the Canadian military who helped foil the Nazis' plans for killing the remaining Jews in the death and labor camps. Established in 2000, the Jewish Canadian Military Museum houses a large variety of war memorabilia that has been donated throughout the years. Additionally it is home to a Memorial Book of Remembrance, honoring the more than 550 Jewish Canadian Armed Forces personnel who gave their lives during duty. The Archives of the Jewish Canadian Military Museum both preserves our history and educates the public about the Jewish role in the Canadian Armed Forces.

For those who don't know the story, between 1964 and 1968, the three service branches were merged into a single entity, "The Canadian Armed Forces", unified under a single Chief of Defence Staff and a single Defence Staff. Although there would still Army, Navy and Air Force elements, they were no longer individual entities. Navy and Army pilots became a thing of the past in Canada, as did the RCAF Marine (patrol boat) Squadrons. Read more... History of Canada portal The military history of Canada comprises hundreds of years of armed actions in the territory encompassing modern Canada , and the role of the Canadian military in conflicts and peacekeeping worldwide. For thousands of years, the area that would become Canada was the site of sporadic intertribal wars among Aboriginal peoples . Although not without conflict, European/Canadian (c. late 15th - early 16th centuries) interactions with First Nations and Inuit populations were relatively peaceful. The Inuit had more limited interaction with European settlers during that early period. Starting in the 17th and 18th century, Canada was the site of four colonial wars between New France and New England which spanned almost seventy years, as each allied with various First Nation groups. In 1763, after the final colonial war - the French and Indian War - the British emerged victorious and the French civilians, whom the British hoped to assimilate, were declared "British Subjects". New challenges soon arose when the

    Canada's Military Heritage
As a proud Canadian, and a former member of the Canadian Armed Forces, I have created this website to honour the history of Canada's military from the War of 1812 until the present day. It is still very much a work in progress, and I am attempting to add new content and photos as often as possible.
The First World War had just ended, when, in 1918, Canada joined other Allied nations in sending to troops to Russia. More than four thousand Canadian soldiers, known as the Siberian Expeditionary Force, were dispatched to help the Russian government defeat an army of rebels in a bloody civil war. Fighting alongside Great Britain, France, Japan and the United States, the Canadian force saw little fighting, but still suffered casualties of twenty-four men. Among the Canadians who served in the Siberian Expeditionary Force was World War One fighter ace Raymond Collishaw. When another civil war erupted in Spain, in 1937, Canada officially declared neutrality. Despite the government's stance, more than 1,700 Canadians, including Dr. Norman Bethune, volunteered to serve against the facists. More than 400 died in the conflict.
