Political Parties in Canada
Political parties provide the basis for Canadian government. Election choices are made simpler because Canadians can decide which candidate to vote for based on which party they wish to form the government. At this site you can connect to provincial parties and parties at work in federal politics
Political parties also structure most of work of the legislatures by organizing the members into disciplined blocs. As such, it is important to know what our political parties stand for, and how they are structured.

Canadian Political Parties Competing for Immigrant Vote
Print Email Share With the likelihood of another Federal election looming over Canada’s Conservative government, winning immigrant voters will make all the difference at the polls. As the Liberal Party of Canada re-groups and inches closer to electing a new chief executive on Dec. 2, 2006, Liberal leader hopefuls are counting on the “immigrant vote” to lead their party to victory once again. The Liberal Party of Canada knows that if it wishes to assume power they’ll need to tap into Canada’s vast and ever-increasing immigrant constituency, and re-vamping the current Canadian Immigration system has been emphasized in many platforms in the latest Liberal leadership race, most notably in the proposed initiatives presented by Liberal leadership hopefuls Joe Volpe, Gerard Kennedy, Maurizio Bevilacqua, and front-runner, Michael Ignatief. He has also gone on record stating that Canada needs to expand the family-class portion of its immigration system, which allows Canadians to sponsor family members who want to become permanent residents of Canada. The Liberal Party of Canada has traditionally fared well with Immigrant Canadians, however Harper’s Conservative government is attempting to challenge conventional wisdom and position itself as Canada’s new “Party for Immigrants”. The Conservatives understand that if they wish to win the battle for majority status, they’ll have to take the fight to the streets of Ontario’s populous immigrant communities.

Political Parties of Canada
Green
The Green Party's chief goals are the environment, healthcare and education. They are more worried about a sustainable economy than a competitive economy. (Basically the idea is, whats the use of having an economy like the United States which will collapse in 20 years?) The Green Party also believes in: Screening immigrants for criminal records. Electrical, hybrid and hydrogen fuel-cell cars are the way of the future. Stop subsidizing the oil industry with $5.9 billion in Canadian tax dollars every year. Better housing policies for the poor. Creating "Green Collar" jobs that help the environment AND boost the economy. Changing the voting system so it more accurately depicts Canadian political beliefs, instead of the one with most votes takes all. Give farmers a more fair share instead of big business taking the lion's share of the profits. Lower taxes on income, profit and investment, while raising taxes on cigarettes, pollution and waste. Invest in alternative energy. Stop sharing energy with the United States. Instead, build and subsidize more solar panels, wind farms and water-powered solutions.
