Pediatric Heart Care at Mayo Clinic
Mayo Clinic has been treating heart disease and heart-related conditions in children and adolescents for more than 50 years. Mayo Clinic physicians and researchers have contributed many new developments in the treatment of these conditions, among them helping to create the subspecialty of pediatric cardiology and congenital heart surgery. Each year, Mayo Clinic heart specialists treat 5,000 to 6,000 children and adolescents for congenital (present at birth) heart problems. Mayo's heart surgeons perform more than 550 operations annually to repair congenital heart defects. A team of physicians from the Center for Congenital Heart Disease works together to offer the latest diagnosis and treatment options.
