edit Population
The main influences on the culture of the Cayman Islands come from the United Kingdom North America , and Jamaica . Along with these dominant cultural influences, there are 113 nationalities on the three islands that make up the country. The total population of the Cayman Islands consists of just over 52,000 people, spread throughout the island group with the majority of the people found on Grand Cayman. Roughly 20,000 are native Caymanian, with the remainder of the residents originating elsewhere in the world. The native people of the Cayman Islands carry with them an air of independence, and are known to have a strong spirit. This courageousness helped sustain the islanders through trying times when the island group was known as "the islands that time forgot." In the past, most of the people of the Cayman Islands got their livelihood from the sea, and were merchant seamen.
edit Religion
The influences of American and European culture are most evident in the religion of the Cayman Islands, where Christianity is the most practiced religion. Within the island group, the denominations of Christianity that are practiced are

Identification. Christopher Columbus discovered the Cayman Islands on 10 May 1503 when his ships were blown off course by strong winds. He saw two small islands so full of turtles that he named them Las Tortugas, Spanish for "the turtles." It was the presence of the marine crocodile, however, that gave the islands their name, after the Carib word caymanas. The capital, George Town, was named after King George III of England. Location and Geography. The three islands Grand Cayman, Little Cayman, and Cayman Brac lie in the Caribbean Sea about 200 miles (320 kilometers) northwest of Jamaica. Total land area is 100 square miles (264 square kilometers). The islands are outcrops of the Cayman Ridge, which extends from Cuba to Belize, and are formed primarily of limestone. Two of the deepest parts of the Caribbean, the Cayman Trough to the east and the Bartlett Trough to the south, together with the shallower Cayman Bank west of Grand Cayman lie in close proximity. Grand Cayman, the largest island, is approximately 22 miles (35 kilometers) long and 8 miles (13 kilometers) wide; its most striking feature is the North Sound, a shallow reef-protected lagoon. Cayman Brac, about 90 miles (145 kilometers) northeast of Grand Cayman, is about 12 miles (19 kilometers) long and a mile (1.6 kilometers) wide; its name derives from its most striking feature, the

The Cayman Islands have been influenced by European, Caribbean, and American culture
Peaceful Paradise The Cayman Islands are one of the most serene and peaceful vacation spots in the Caribbean. While the primary cultural influences are from the United Kingdom, North America, and Jamaica, 113 nationalities are present on the three islands. One of the most striking aspects of culture on the Cayman Islands - and an indicator of the predominant British and American influence - is the prevalence of Christianity. Denominations represented on the island include Roman Catholic, Baptist, Anglican, Church of God, and Presbyterian, among others. Churches are ubiquitous on the islands, and many residents reserve Sundays for churchgoing. Religion is taken so seriously that ports on the Cayman Islands are closed to cruise ships on Sundays and other religious holidays such as Christmas. British influence is also seen in the language of the Caymans, which is English with a lilting combination of accents from English, Scottish, and Welsh settlers. Jamaican settlers also brought their unique patois to the islands; it is still detectable in the accents of select residents today. Jamaican influences are also undeniably present in the cuisine of the Cayman Islands. Jerk seasoning is used to add flair to many traditional Caribbean dishes. The Cayman National Cultural Foundation works to promote the art and culture of the islands through dance, theatre, and the visual and literary arts.

The Cayman Islands offer an excellent mix of natural wonders, cultural treasures and signature experiences to visitors; here are my picks for the best attractions the Caymans have to offer!
    Stingray City
Located in Grand Cayman's North Sound, Stingray City may be the most famous "swim with the (fill in your favorite sea creature here)" experience on the planet. Unlike many other such attractions, Stingray City doesn't keep its animals captive: the stingrays are native to the North Sound sandbars, and the shallow waters make it easy for human visitors to mingle with the (mostly) harmless local sea life. A number of outfitters run half- and full-day excursions to Stingray City for those who want to snorkel, scuba, or just observe from a glass-bottom boat. And because this isn't a private attraction, anyone with a boat or jet ski can also come out to mingle with the stingrays for free More Info Read Review zSB(3,3)

CULTURE The three Cayman Islands boast a total population just over 33,000. About 32,000 people reside on the largest island, followed by 1,200 residents on Cayman Brac and a scant 120 on Little Cayman. It's a varied population, with cultures from around the globe. About a third of all residents are non-Caymanians. Most are from the US, Canada, the UK and nearby Jamaica, although a total of 113 nationalities are represented. English is the primary language in the Cayman Islands, but you'll notice it is spoken with a unique lilt, one a little different from accents in other areas of the Caribbean. It's a reminder of the islands' earliest Welsh, Scottish, and English settlers. You'll often hear the Jamaican patois as well.

Information for Caribbean Vacations in the Cayman Islands First visited by Christopher Columbus on May 10, 1503 during his fourth and final voyage to the New World, the Cayman Islands remained largely uninhabited until the 17th century. The Cayman Islands, along with nearby Jamaica, were ceded to Great Britain in 1670 under the Treaty of Madrid. They were governed as a single colony with Jamaica until 1962 when they became a separate British overseas territory and Jamaica became an independent commonwealth realm.
