We have 24 guests online Welcome The Scripps Research Institute has been awarded more than $80 million by the National Institutes of Health to greatly expand the work of The Scripps Research Molecular Screening Center, further strengthening the collaborative efforts of teams of scientists at the La Jolla, California and Jupiter, Florida campuses. The six-year grant is the largest ever awarded to Scripps Research. The Scripps Research Institute Molecular Screening Center will use Scripps Florida's high throughput robotics to screen discoveries made in laboratories in La Jolla and Jupiter, as well as other research institutions, against various biological targets. The goal is to uncover "proof-of-concept molecules" that could be useful in developing new treatments for a large number of human diseases.

Looking to the Near Future: Chemistry Informatics The most critical factor is still the human element, designing the systems to extract useful data without distorting it John R. Joyce, Ph.D. Recently, Contributing Editor John Wass, Ph.D. provided an appreciation of likely near term developments in scientific data analysis packages,1 particularly in regards to the statistics aspects as well as an analysis of some of the various developments driving these trends, with particular emphasis on the impact of current developments in the computer and memory fields. Today we’ll take a similar look at some of the near-term developments in chemistry-related packages. I’m sure that it will come as no surprise that many of the same considerations apply here. Somewhat muddying the crystal ball is the fact that, when looking at chemistry-related software, you can be looking at several very distinct types of packages, though the lines of demarcation between these packages is starting to blur as they begin to incorporate features from their sister packages. While it is quite possible to further sub-divide these packages or come up with alternate packages for inclusion, the primary ones we are likely to encounter are:

Previous Next Sponsoring the Olympiads July 29, 2009 These academic competitions bring together the most gifted and talented students from over 90 countries. The Olympiads include physics mathematics chemistry informatics , and several other categories. Like the athletes at Beijing, ISO competitors devote hundreds of hours in their home countries to rigorously prepare for their Olympic competition. Together, these elite students are the vanguard of the next generation of global scientific and mathematical talent. Wolfram Research is proud to have sponsored the th International Mathematical Olympiad Mathematica for Students licenses for participating in this event.
The International Science Olympiads are just a few of the scores of sponsorship activities Wolfram Research undertakes each year. We sponsor many prestigious academic and scientific organizations and programs, competitions, and events worldwide. We believe that the participating students greatly benefit from having their own Mathematica licenses.
