The person posing as the counselor called a provider stating they were from Tallahassee, but caller ID indicated they were calling from another area. DCF and PCLB do not ask providers for banking information or any other personal or private information that is not allowed by law. The provider in this case initially fell for the caller's "scam", but fortunately was later advised that they should take steps to protect their banking information, which required them to freeze their account. Please report calls as described above to the Child Care Licensing Program at 507-4857.
