Pictures and information about a leadbeaters cockatoo.
http://www.fluffies.org/zazu.htm
My leadbeaters cockatoo or leadbeater cockatoo ( cacatua leadbeateri ) and pet bird Zazu. ( leadbeater cockatoo, major mitchells cockatoo, pink cockatoo) He is a very sweet two years old leadbeaters cockatoo or leadbeater cockatoo and there are lots of leadbeaters cockatoo / leadbeater cockatoo pictures on his leadbeaters cockatoo or leadbeater cockatoo pages. Leadbeaters cockatoos aka leadbeater cockatoos aren't easy cockatoos (leadbeateri cacatua). I think the major mitchells cockatoo is a wonderful leadbeaters cockatoo. My leadbeaters cockatoo (cacatua leadbeateri) talks. On my pages: info leadbeaters cockatoo care, keeping leadbeater cockatoos, (cacatua leadbeateri)cockatoo care, cockatoo diseases: pbfd, leadbeaters cockatoo characteristics, leadbeater cockatoo characteristics, leadbeaters cockatoo cage, cage too small for leadbeaters cockatoo? Also leadbeaters cockatoo pictures (leadbeater cockatoo) plus (cacatua leadbeateri), leadbeaters cockatoo care, leadbeaters cockatoo information, leadbeaters cockatoo behavior. If you want a leadbeater cockatoo you should get informed very well as they are not very easy birds! Just as all other cockatoos they are very difficult, although it seems that they are far more easy than an african grey or a senegal parrot. Don't get mislead by these appearings! They will seduce you without you noticing it! These birds are, just like all toos very dusty, you will need to dust more. They need a lot of attention as well. Many parrots are given away or sold as owners don't know what they are starting. It is also a myth that birds are easier than dogs, parrots have the intelligence of a 3-4-5 years old child and there for you must take it extremely seriously! These birds measure from 30 centimeters till very big, they will need quite a large cage as their size demands that. Be ready to cope with these things, so you won't run into unwanted things, or unexpected things!

Parrots have a pan-tropical distribution with several species inhabiting the temperate Southern Hemisphere as well. The greatest diversity of parrots is found in South America and Australasia Characteristic features of parrots include a strong curved bill , an upright stance, strong legs, and clawed zygodactyl feet. Most parrots are predominantly green, with other bright colors, and some species are multi-colored. Cockatoo species range from mostly white to mostly black, and have a mobile

nzbirds birds (of New Zealand) bird gallery Antipodes Island parakeet The locality from which the specimen had come was not recorded. In March, 1886, however, it was rediscovered by Captain Fairchild of the government steamer Stella, at Antipodes Island. On a later visit, the crew obtained a number of them and brought them to the mainland alive. They were apparently easily run down and caught by hand. Buller related how readily they took to confinement even though captured as adults. Accidental introduction of predators such as rats, cats and mustelids, is a potential threat. The Antipodes Islands are nature reserves, and landing is strictly by permit only. In 1907, 12 birds were released on Kapiti Island. They survived for around 20 years. The species is held widely in private aviaries and adapts readily to captivity. A captive management plan is in place to safeguard the species. http://www.nzbirds.com/birds/kakarikiyellow.html
nzbirds birds (of New Zealand) bird gallery Kakariki, the yellow-crowned parakeet That food failure was the cause of these irruptions or influxes is indicated, according to the ornithologist, W. R. Oliver, by the fact that in some districts at the same time there was also an invasion of rats. In 1888, he says, there was an irruption of red-crowned parakeets accompanied by smaller numbers of yellow-crowned in Marlborough. On such occasions the parakeets showed no fear of man who tried to lessen the damage done by the birds by shooting them. The parakeets, as the story goes, were not much frightened by the sound of guns and flew just a short distance away and continued foraging. Many thousands were shot. Two severe irruptions took place in Canterbury in the eighties when it was thought that the birds came from Westland driven out by the failure of food supply on account of wet and cold weather. They were considered among the worst pests in the Hutt Valley in the early days of European settlement and made serious inroads into the hop gardens of Nelson and the wheat crops of Otago. After fifteen years or more of these visitations the number of parakeets decreased considerably and they did not again recover. The Kakariki are members of the parrot family which are mainly tropical birds notable for their colourful plumage. There are two main species, the yellow and red-crown. The red-crown tends to be larger than the yellow.
