Treating colds naturally
The cold is the most common infectious disease in the United States. The cold accounts for more absences from work and school than any other illness. It is the #1 cause of patient visits to doctors. It is not easy to catch a cold. Your body's immune defenses usually fight off these viruses. There is a direct correlation between the amount of time spent in contact with an infected person and your risk of catching a cold. This is why familie members tend to get colds together. In most cases , something called a "rhinovirus" is the cause of the common cold, while a variety of other viruses are responsible for the remaining cases of the cold. However, bacterial infections are rarely the cause of upper respiratory symptoms so antibiotics won't help most colds. Almost all cases of the common cold are caused by VIRUSES, and antibiotics do not work against viral infections. In spite of this fact, an amazing 60% of colds are treated with antibiotics.

Natural home remedies

Gargle: A mix of water and pure tea tree oil this helps sore throats. Wash your hands frequently, this reduces the chances of re infecting yourself and others. Vitamin C in doses of 500 mg. Four times a day will shorten flu symptoms by a day or two. Vitamin C works best for colds instead of the flu. Cough drops made from the herb horehound can be effective. They are airborne and are transmitted when one breathes, coughs, or sneezes. Cold viruses can be spread when a person with a cold sneezes into his or her hand or blows his or her nose and then touches an object. Cold viruses can live for up to 3 hours on a surface such as a doorknob or toy. What are the causes and risks of the infection?

(NaturalNews) Probiotics and digestive enzymes prevent colds and flu; research has shown. Probiotics are the healthy bacteria that live in the intestines. Harmful bacteria include those like E. coli (Escherichia col), etc, but there are many bacteria that inhabit our gut that help with our digestion. Now, studies have shown that probiotics also help the immune response by both preventing colds and flu and speeding recovery time.
Probiotics are included in many forms of yogurt, kefir, and other cultured milk products, such as sour cream. Most probiotics help the immune system prevent diseases such as irritable bowel, diarrhea, and allergies.
A study published in the medical journal Pediatrics was conducted on 326 children in China. They were from the age of three to five years old. The children were given milk twice daily that contained the probiotics Lactobacillus acidophilus by itself, or combined with Bifidobacterium animalis. The children were followed for six months, from November 2005 to May 2006.

cold war n : a conflict characterized by the use of means short of sustained overt military action Webster's New American Dictionary, 1995 The Cold War lasted from the end of World War II until the fall of Soviet Union. On one side of the world, the United States led an alliance of nations in their determination to protect democracy and freedom throughout the world. On the other side, the Soviet Union spearheaded a quest to bring Communism to the world. During these 44 years, tensions between these two superpowers were high. The United States and the Soviet Union competed in every arena of the world, but never went to war with each other. Such a war was feared as the one that would end the world.
