Computer generated art by Web partners Acqualin and Willstein, and Acqualin s poetry, on her own digital art backgrounds.
http://www.inamongus.com/acqualin/
Welcome to our visual arts page! H i and welcome to Acqualin’s Poetry and Art page. The time has flown by since Willstein (my genius web partner) first built this site for me to display my poems—we’re almost a year old now. This page has grown tremendously. No one is more surprised about that than me, especially because in January of 2001 I didn’t know anything about web sites or digital artwork. Willstein is a great encourager, though, and he convinced me that an hour a day would lead to breakthroughs in learning the techniques of the art program. He was right, as usual. I n the left column, the poems I have written are backed by my digital compositions; the in the right column, the artistic compositions are by Willstein and by me. This page began as a location to share our work with each other, since Oklahoma and Ohio are pretty far apart. Willstein decided to connect it to our Inamongus home page—he likes to surprise me—so you might see how we were progressing. Of course, we were bright enough to keep our day jobs, so most of fhe activity on this page happens around the summer months, when I’m not teaching and when Willstein isn’t slaving over a hot project for the company that gave him his own office. W illstein is the instigator and architect of our entire Inamongus empire. You will find evidence of our creativity and attempted humor at all sites linked to our Inamongus home page. We’ve only just begun, and more is planned for the future. I hope you enjoy what you find here and will take a moment to use the Contact Me link at the bottom of this page to tell us what you think. ~

29. Computer Art At The V&A - Victoria And Albert Museum

Abstract
Hommage Ă  Paul Klee, Frieder Nake, 13/9/65 Nr.2, 1965. Museum no. E.951-2008. (click image for larger version) The arrival of the computer into both the creative process and the creative industries is perhaps one of the most culturally significant developments of the last century. Yet until recently, few, if any, UK museums have collected material that comprehensively illustrates and charts this change. The donation of two substantial collections of computer-generated art and design to the Word and Image Department of the Victoria and Albert Museum offers the opportunity to redress this. The donations have considerably strengthened our holdings in this area and the museum is now home to the national collection of computer-generated art and design. These acquisitions will allow the museum to re-assess the impact of the computer's arrival and to attempt to position these works within an art historical context for the first time. 'Digital Pioneers' will present a historical counterpart to the contemporary exhibition, encouraging comparisons that, until now, have been drawn far less frequently. A conference covering the subject matter of both exhibitions will take place in early spring 2010 and will create an academic forum in which these comparisons can be examined more fully. We hope it will also allow for an opportunity to further the process of documenting and recording the history of this field.

In this example, Margret Eicher has revamped the art of Gobelins Tapestry which has been traditionally hand-embroidered and sewed by skilled craftsmen/craftswomen. Using religion and pop culture iconography as sources of inspirations, Eicher’s tapestries, however, are refined industrial products created by a computer. When this tradition started hundreds of years ago, Gobelins tapestry craftmen/craftwomen used religious art and famous paintings as sources for inspiration. This is beautiful stuff. Is there anything else we can automate?
