The people in the state of Connecticut look at things very differently based on the region in which they live. Connecticut has a major dividing line around New Haven; with people in the southern half of the state associating with New York and in the northern half associating with Boston (i.e. north of New Haven are Red Sox fans and south are Yankees fans). The markets dividing line is in Meriden and goes across the I-691 corridor. There are 8 distinct radio markets within Connecticut. They are as follows: Hartford, New Haven, Waterbury, Tolland County, Danbury, New London, Bridgeport, and Fairfield County, and no one station can cover the whole state. Connecticut has no professional sports teams with the defection of the professional hockey team moving to North Carolina; UCONN sports are what binds the state together. Both the Mens and Womens Basketball teams have the ability to sell out Gample Pavilion (approx. 6,000 people) and the Hartford Civic Center (approx. 12,000 people). UCONN has just gone Division 1A in football which will play at Rentschler Field in East Hartford which holds approximately 40,000 people. The Connecticut Convention Center opened in 2005 with the 2nd largest exposition hall in New England. The Convention Center attracts New York and Boston size Expos bringing more than 50,000 people per event to Hartford. Connecticut has plenty of area attractions to entertain with two casinos, Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods, and the newly opened Connecticut Science Center in Hartford!
