About
If April 13 does not work for your library, please choose a date between Dates TBD
The Snapshot Committee created a brief survey to collect data – basic information like how many people came through your door, how many people used your computers, etc.  We are also looking for comments from patrons.  Sometimes those heartfelt testimonials are the best way to show how important our libraries are.  We provided an easy form to collect comments from users.  And we need photos!  Please take pictures of people using your library and upload them to the Flickr account we have created.
We need all your information by Date TBD .  After that, we will tabulate the data and post results right here.
Step 4 – Participate on April 13, 2011  (or whichever date you’ve selected).
Step 5 – Submit your statistics, comments from customers and photos by Date TBD . (It’s easy! Just complete the short survey!)
Date TBD  to find out how other libraries participated, read the statistics, see comments and view the Flickr photos.

ITI Home SIRSI Forms Alliance with Wilson, Installs Systems in Connecticut Libraries SIRSI Corp. has announced that the H.W. Wilson Co., a supplier of online and print bibliographic and biographical reference materials, will provide SIRSI's iBistro electronic library with Wilson's Book Review Digest, a complete database of fiction and nonfiction book review excerpts that date to 1984. The Book Review Digest features review excerpts and abstracts from a wide variety of sources, including The New York Times Book Review Harper's The New Yorker People , the Chicago Tribune The New Republic , and the San Francisco Chronicle . SIRSI has also announced that the Waterford-Groton Public Libraries—a consortium from Waterford, Groton, andMystic, Connecticut—have selected SIRSI's Unicorn system and iBistro.
SIRSI/Wilson
The SIRSI/Wilson alliance enables libraries to supply users with online access to reviews and abstracts of a wide variety of fiction and nonfiction. When iBistro users open a bibliographic record of possible interest, they will be able to read reviews of works they are considering, rather than searching separate publications for information. Laura Dawson, SIRSI's director of content development, said: "The relationship between H.W. Wilson and SIRSI will provide library users everywhere with access to the very best, most complete information on the books they are searching for. The addition of Book Review Digest to the content being offered through iBistro is a real coup for patrons."

    2010 Annual Friends Conference
On Saturday November 6, 2010, The Friends of Connecticut Libraries will hold their Annual Conference with a program that focuses on membership. The conference will be held at Constitution Room, Memorial Hall at Central CT. State University in New Britain, CT. This year’s program expands on Dr. Tim Cole’s 2009 presentation, ”Welcoming the Next Generation of Friends” with four presentations focused on recruiting and retaining members. Two presentations will be in morning starting shortly after 9:00 a.m. and two in the afternoon following a buffet lunch. Last year, the majority of comments asked for more informal time to chat with other Friends groups so we have added a one hour lunch break to help meet that request. the cost is $20 for a member of a FOCL member group and $30 for non-members. We would like you to register by October 22, 2010. Last year’s conference was oversubscribed and we had to turn Friends away. We have much larger room this year and can hold nearly 200 Friends. Seating will be on a first come, first basis. There will be no registration at the door.

Welcome to the University of Connecticut Libraries' Staff Wiki
What is a Wiki?
A Wiki enables documents to be authored collectively using a web browser. This Wiki was created to help maintain the ITS area’s large amount of documentation. The Wiki makes all of our documentation searchable, and allows easy access for anyone in the library to edit the information when necessary.
A few tips to get you started:
  • Please log in to the Wiki first if you're a UConn Libraries Staff Member - It’s quick and easy. Most information in a Wiki is found via the search. For example, try to search for the word, ‘password’ (without quotes). Once you’ve found a document, if you see that it is missing information or has an error, you can edit it (as long as your logged in). Keep in mind that the Wiki doesn’t have to use HTML. You can type things free form, or use the Guide to Markup Text to format.
