Kale with Oyster Sauce The Importance of Microwave Cooking M icrowave cooking is a fast, simple and hygienic way of cooking. It will retain food's original flavor, and freshness. Only if you follow our recipes closely, you will be ensured of success in turning out a delicious recipe.
If you are a beginner, do not cook food on long timing to avoid over-cooking.
Cooking time and food quantity should be in proportion. When cooking large portion of food, stir the food at short intervals to allow even cooking.
To avoid food dehydration, cover the food while cooking. Food marinated with cornflour (e.g. meat, prawns) should have oil added to avoid sticking in a lump. Because microwave cooking is faster than the conventional, it is important to marinate food properly to ensure proper seasoning.
When soup needs thickening, add corn flour with a little water into the boiling soup and stir briskly till it turns translucent. If the soup quantity is more than you need, prolong boiling period to evaporate extra moisture.

INDIAN MICROWAVE COOKING
It is a misnomer in India, that delicious dishes cannot be cooked in the microwave oven unlike the conventional methods. Gone are the days when women had to toil in the kitchen from sunrise to sunset churning out dishes. Cooking in the microwave oven is very clean and efficient. The number of utensils involved would be very less, thus making life easy for the womenfolk. Microwave cooking is fast, generally, cooking food takes one-fourth the time in the microwave than it takes in your conventional oven. Hence women, especially those working find it a boom. Cooking heat is created within the food, so ones’ kitchen does not get overheated.

The natural flavours are retained in the food materials.Hence a healthy life is assured. Reduced cooking time means more vitamins and minerals are retained in the food. Overcooking in conventional methods generally removes the nutrients present. It is very economical and convenient to use the microwave oven. Microwave cooking helps to make your life easier. Cooking healthy, appetizing meals very quickly changes your attitude in life. The microwave oven is one of the great inventions of the 20th century millions of homes around the world have one. Indians are slowly joining the bandwagon. In microwave cooking, the radio waves penetrate the food and excite water and fat molecules much evenly throughout the food. No heat has to migrate toward the interior by conduction. There is heat everywhere all at once because the molecules are all excited together. Microwaves are high-frequency electromagnetic waves which release energy to food to cook or reheat without changing either the form or the colour. Microwave ovens are used to defrost, reheat or cook.

WHAT OTHER'S HAVE TO SAY ABOUT MICROWAVE COOKING FOR ONE
The wonderful and beautiful book arrived this week and I am thrilled! There are many more recipes then I expected. I am very excited since my husband often works late and I end up with sandwiches rather then making myself something to eat I received your cookbook in the mail yesterday afternoon and have already read the whole book. I'm very pleased with my purchase and know I'll use it everyday the rest of my life. I'm so glad I found your website. Thank you again. It is a very good cookbook and I have yet to find a recipe that didn't turn out as it was supposed to Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. I'm an 81-year old and a 24/7 caretaker for my wife who has AD. I will certainly use the book to the best of my ability I received your cookbook, and I have tried some recipes from it. They were great. My hubby keeps looking in the cookbook, and asks "when will you cook this recipe?" My microwave was a gift for my 30th birthday, which makes it an oldie, but a goodie. The conversion chart is especially helpful. I use my microwave on a daily basis, but I know with your cookbook it will become even more valuable

Microwave Cooking - microwave rice cooker
Expert: Donovan Fandre - 8/19/2007 Question Is there a way to cook brown rice in a microwave rice cooker? Answer Hey Penny, all rice cooks beautifully by microwave even if you don't have a rice cooker. Since the pot never gets hotter than the ingredients you never have to worry about scorching or sticking. For brown rice; mix 1-cup rice with 3-cups of chicken or vegetable stock or water in a 2-3-quart microwave safe dish, or your rice cooker. Cover the dish with plastic wrap or the dish cover and cook on high for 10-minutes and medium (50% power) for 25 minutes or until the rice is tender. For all other rice just add double the amount of water (1-cup rice to 2-cups of water) and cook on 70 power for about 20-minutes or until the rice is tender. Incidentally, other grains and pulses also cook well by microwave. Lentils, split peas, barley, couscous, bulgar wheat, and other stuff in this category cook well. I've never eaten quinoa but I'm cooking it tonight because it sounds interesting and is the only grain that is a complete protein. Check my website for more tips; jumpstartcooking.com
