Adjust font-size: Published November 10, 2009 by: Robert Gil III View Profile Follow Add to Favorites ... Rewards Programs I believe that there are three-crime prevention programs outlined in chapter nine that are most effective and they are: Neighborhood watch program, crime stoppers program, and citizens on patrol program. The neighborhood watch program allows for many people from the community to ban together and sometimes walk at night together with radios that are connected to police deterring crime. If these people are not walking around they at least keep an eye out for suspicious activity. Crime stoppers offers rewards in exchange for information leading to arrests of those who have committed crimes. The citizens on patrol program in community is very effective because these people are given vehicles in which they can drive around reporting suspicious acts.
The advantages of these programs are that the community can become safer in time with community involvement. These programs act for extra eyes and ears for the police allowing others to venture in the underworld where some police departments are not able to infiltrate. I believe that there are some disadvantages that can become of these programs. These disadvantages can be where the program may pose a danger to the community and a liability. These programs need to ensure that all citizens involved with in them understand the dangers and training in how to report activities without creating a danger to them selves.

  • Crime Prevention Programs
Adjust font-size: Published November 10, 2009 by: Robert Gil III View Profile Follow Add to Favorites ... Rewards Programs I believe that the police must implement community-based programs in order to educate the community about crime. In addition, the police department implements programs to target different age groups and teach them personal safety and safety tips for their property. These programs are in place to help the police build rapport with the community and allow them to feel safe enough to communicate to assist in solving criminal acts. It is necessary for the community to be involved with the police and establish that clear communication channel so to speak.
These programs provide community involvement for the most part. The community does need to ban together in order to make their area safe. Not one person has the might and the power to make sure the streets are safe since he or she cannot be in every place at one time. Therefore, the police and the community should first of all establish the programs as well as contribute in order to make the program stronger and more effective. When programs are in place people understand the real mission of the police and their demeanor.
I believe that there are just some general challenges associated with implementing these programs. One of the most important challenges to the program is to market the program and bring the community together. I believe that along with getting the word on the street, another challenge is finding the funding for the program. Funding for the most part seems to become one of the most important challenges that need to be addressed as soon as possible in order to create an effective program.
