InaGlo's Camera Equimpment Composition/ Cropping Advice....
Pic is from my first play with the 5D. The pic is supposed to have emphasis on the hands (its for nails) I have a theme for the pic which is the 1930's. So my idea was screen siren type of thing, hence the pose.
I cropped the deadspace at the top but think I took too much as thats where she's looking! Ive since thought of cropping tighter but would lose the stem/bottom of the glass. basically I think I messed up!
What do you guys think? is this pic a dead loss?

Amusing Ourselves to Death -Part 2- Critique
Posted on April 3, 2009 by jantoine 1 Comment Positively, the way he contrasts Huxley and Orwell’s fear of an oppressive society is fascinating. He states, “There are two ways the spirit of culture may be shriveled. In the first –the Orwellian –culture becomes a prison. In the second –the Huxleyan –culture becomes a burlesque” (155). It seems that those two opposite types of oppression could meet in their extremes. Especially when technological media has been so prosperous, it is easy to think of a society that would use the information and entertainment produced by this technological media to control and oppress its people, without them even being aware that their freedom has been taken away. Reading this book made me understand how the shift from modernity to postmodernity might have taken place within the media. Postman made me realize that to understand the media helps to understand how a society thinks and functions. Negatively, I think that Postman gives the print too much credit. The print is not the only resource for one to improve her mind. Additionally, print has brought some negative consequences to the mind. One does not need to use and improve her ability to remember if she can always write down information. Postman needs to realize that books are not the primary way of communicating information now. Therefore, instead of rejecting this new media, it seems that I should explore how I could use it the best way I can for my purposes.

http://www.serissolutions.com/photos/images/Portraits/Sunny_Day.jpg Michaelmjc 21st of April 2005 (Thu), 20:34 There is something over his head that looks a little out of place. He looks like he is going to spit in his hand or soemthing. There is really no meaning to take the pic other than a candid. The background is good but the picture doesn't do anything for me. tim 21st of April 2005 (Thu), 20:57 I would like to see more of his face in the picture, and the direct sunlight is a bit bright. I would keep it, but I wouldn't print it myself. serissolutions 21st of April 2005 (Thu), 21:13 Thanx. I agree with you. Just wanted confirmation.

These were but three of several similar short prose pieces written by Hesse at Gaienhofen between the years 1904 and 1915. Fulkerson, "Four Philosophies of Composition"
Fulkerson, Richard. "Four Philosophies of Composition." Composition in Four Keys: Inquiring into the Field . Barbara Gleason, Louise Wetherbee Phelps, and Mark Wiley, eds. Mountain View, Calif.: Mayfield, 1996. 551-555. In this brief piece, originally published in CCC ), Fulkerson adapts a philosophical framework from M.H. Abrams's The Mirror and the Lamp (1953). Abrams devised a four-term analytical scheme applied to "artistic transactions" (551), consisting of pragmatic, mimetic, expressive, and objective perspectives. Fulkerson revises these terms, replacing the pragmatic and objective with rhetorical and formalist designations, in an effort to apply them to composition studies. The mid-section of the essay accounts briefly for each of the positions and names key figures associated with each:
  • formalist : bases judgments on form (grammar, syntax, and spelling); focus on the sentence and universal norms; Out front: E.D. Hirsch (552).
