Cross Country Skiing in Ontario Canada ,is the world's finest
fitness activity involving a simultaneous use of arms and legs utilizing ski equipment
including boots, poles, and skis. The primary functional difference between Cross
Country Skiing and Downhill skiing is that in Cross Country, the skier is attached
to the ski only with the toe of the bootwith the heel "free". In Downhill skiing, the
entire foot is attached to the ski. The free heel allows a Downhill Skier to climb,
descend and traverse terrain making the sport a truly "cross country" activity.
In Downhill skiing and snowboarding, the participant is limited to the range

WE HAVE SNOW!
By nordic3, on November 10th, 2010 We landed 3 1/2 inches last night and with an evening groom we do have about 1 to 2K available to ski by the Breckenridge Nordic Center and another 1 to 2K up high in our Siberian Loop area. As a reminder we do have a few patchy spots to watch out for. Ultimately, WE HAVE SNOW! Leave a comment General Posts

Welcome to the KNSC website. This web site is provided to share the enjoyment of cross-country skiing on the southern Kenai Peninsula. The Kachemak Nordic Ski Club is dedicated to the promotion of Nordic skiing in the Kachemak Bay area and hopes this site offers useful information regarding our trail system as well as upcoming events. We currently maintain over 70 kilometers of groomed trails at the Baycrest, McNeil Canyon-Eveline, and Lookout Mountain trail systems. All three areas are groomed for classic as well as skate skiing and are located close to the town of Homer. Each area offers varying terrain with opportunities for panoramic views of Kachemak Bay and the Kenai Mountains. The Trail Conditions page maintains a list showing the most recent trail conditions. In addition, trail users can post a comment on this page letting the rest of us know the condition of the trails you skied today. There may be a delay with your first post, but approved users are encouraged to help keep our information up to date. The Events Calendar lists the date, time, location, and other information for each of our events. The Events Information page gives more detail about each of the events.  Information about upcoming events and race results can be found at the right.
