    Smurf-Berry Crunch
Due to the immense popularity of the Smurf's, Post Cereal created Smurf-Berry Crunch in 1983 which contained red and blue sweetened corn puffs in the shape of berries otherwise known as Smurf-Berries and was so gnarly because it made the milk become a blue-purplish color. Something most kids thought was cool yet the majority of adults did not since it was only in production for a short period of time. The manufacturers must have been out of their Smurfin' minds to have discontinued such a neat, colorful and highly sugared cereal.
    Bonkers
Developed in the mid-eighties by Nabisco, Bonkers was a soft fruit candy with an even fruitier chewy center and their commercials were unquestionably diverting by having what was supposed to be an enormous piece of fruit falling from up above onto people when they would eat the candy which then caused them to erupt in uncontrollable laughter followed by the announcer saying the phrase, "Bonkers Bonks you out!" Though numerous fruit flavored candies have come and gone in the past twenty years not many can equate to the major taste Bonkers had nor could generate sales in which the product did resulting directly from such amusing commercials. Honestly, who wouldn't enjoy watching someone almost become crushed by a gigantic piece of fruit?

Forties Fads and Fashions Girls in the forties were always wearing long spread out dresses. They also wore long over coats. In 1946, the first two piece bikini was produced. It could fold so small that it would fit in a little ring box. They also loved to wear hats. A lot of the hats were flat, but some of them were deep. The men in the forties wore over-coats and tuxedoes. They tried to look very well groomed in the forties. The tuxidoes they wore were usually black, but sometimes they wore other dark colors.
Some of the fads in the forties was the new way to dance. The new dance was called the Jitterbug. This new dance was just crazy because they would do all these weird moves and flips. Also the long playing record was also in. People also substited materials. Some materails that couldn't be uptained because of the war were substituted for cheaper items.

Talk about CELEBRATING! People danced until they dropped, and one fell to the floor, dead! Of course, it wasn't Dance Planet. The radio became popular, and people tuned in everyday. The T.V. was not invented yet, so the radio was the next best thing. When they listened, people liked to listen to jazz, especially the king of jazz, Louis Armstrong. But never fear, people weren't couch potatoes, sitting next to the radio. Movies were also a big hit. This decade marked the start of the sound movies. So much happened in the 1920's, this is only a fraction of it all. Fads of the 1920's Since the 1920s was a time of celebration, there were many fads. People loved to dance, especially the Charleston, Fox-trot, and the shimmy. Dance marathons were something everyone went to every weekend. The longest dance record ever recorded was a record of 3 weeks of dancing. Another fad of the 1920's was the radio. People "tuned" in every day to listen to music, as jazz, sports and live events. A favorite for listening to jazz was "the king of jazz", Louie Armstrong. The latest fashion fad was the flapper, a fad for women. The movie was also the latest thing. The start of 3-D movies was in the 1920's. The average American had a lot to look forward to, in the 1920's, that’s for sure! Inventions An invention, which soon after became a popular fad, is the radio. Because of no invention of the TV, the radio was their TV. And, it really did do pretty much everything the TV does for us. If you tuned in at the right time, you could catch comedy shows, news, live events, jazz, variety shows, drama, opera, you name it, the radio had it! Discovered in the 1920's were penicllin and discovery of insulin for diabetic. This decade had some major breakthroughs in medicine and science.

The dance crazes of rock's first era By Robert Fontenot , About.com Guide
    Filed In:
  • Oldies Music
  • zSB(3,3) As befits a music that was birthed mostly from black musical sources, rock and roll became synonymous with dance crazes - blink-and-you-missed-it fads that involved some wild new dance steps, usually accompanied by a hit single either before or after the fact. In the Fifties, rock dances were generally appropriated from other sources; the lindy hop and the jitterbug served as a basis for many of the fast dances, and aside from the occasional glorious one-off (The Diamonds' deathless, monumentally sleazy "The Stroll"), most rock dancing in the Ike Years remained confined to a few moves. That all changed in the early Sixties, as a nation desparate for fads and able to buy armloads of 45s discovered the thrill of making an idiot out of yourself, all by yourself, on the dance floor. If you were around then, you know the names by heart: The Twist. The Hully Gully. The Watusi. The Jerk. The Fly. There were dozens of others. Here's a collection of links to the best websites about Fifties and Sixties dance crazes and the songs that went with them. If you have or know of a site like this that isn't listed here

    West Coast Swing
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia   (Redirected from West coast swing (dance) Jump to: navigation search West Coast Swing WCS ) is a partner dance derived from Lindy Hop . It is characterised by a distinctive elastic look that results from its basic extension-compression technique of partner connection , and is danced primarily in a slotted area on the dance floor. The dance allows for both partners to improvise steps while dancing together. Typically the follower walks into new patterns traveling forward on counts "1" and "2" of each basic pattern, rather than rocking back The Anchor Step is a common ending pattern of many West Coast Swing figures.

It is believed that the origins of the WCS are in Lindy Hop . In a 1947 book, Arthur Murray recognized that, "There are hundreds of regional dances of the Jitterbug type. Each section of the country seems to have a variation of its own." Dean Collins , who arrived in the Los Angeles area around 1937 after learning to dance at the Savoy Ballroom in Harlem, was influential in developing the style of swing danced on the West Coast of the United States , as both a performer and teacher. When his wife, Mary Collins, was asked if Dean was responsible for the emergence of the dance, however, she said that Dean insisted there were "only two kinds of swing dance - good and bad".

    Hip Hop Dancing
Hip Hop Dancing is one of those urban ethnic dances which have gained tremendous popularity among the masses of late. Originated among Hispanic communities, it is rapidly evolving in various directions. Hip Hop is a cultural and artistic movement (even a way of life) which appeared in the United States in the middle of the 1970. Originated from the black ghettos from New-York, it combines feast aspects with revolted ones. Hip Hop dancing is the best known element of this culture.
The four main elements of hip hop culture are the rap and more generally hip hop music dancing graffiti, DJ work, break dance and the other hip hop dances. Sometimes one can add beat box, even street fashion, street language, street entrepreneurialism and street knowledge.
Often assimilated with rap, which is, nevertheless only one of its aspects, the history of hip hop music is often confounded with that of current music.
    Rap and Mc hip hop
Beat boxing means a music created using the mouth: voice, throat or even the nose. Invented by Doug E. Fresh, it had great success in the 1989 before its decline, but it knew a revival towards the end of the 1999. One of the most famous beat boxers was without a doubt Rahzel, whose most famous song is "

THE TWIST It all started in 1961 at a little club called The Peppermint Lounge in New York City. Stars like Judy Garland, Greta Garbo and even the Duke and Duchess of Windsor were introduced to a new dance called the Twist. Although originally popular only with young black Americans, Chubby Checker helped the dance to break into the mainstream when he appeared on American Bandstand with Dick Clark. Not only was the Twist a hit with the music industry, but it could also be seen in a number of films. In the early sixties, movies such as Twist Around the Clock, Viva La Twist and Teenage Millionaire continued the new craze of Twisting. Want to try the dance?
