Blog About Our mission to share Korean dance, music and culture… The Morning Star Korean Cultural Center was founded in 1985 under the direction of Jiyeon Cheh with the purpose of teaching Korean dance, music and heritage to those interested in sharing Korean culture. Since its founding, Morning Star has continued to expand and diversify its repertoire, programs and service to the community. Today, with the combination of its art pre-school, library, dance and music classes, Morning Star serves over 1,000 members of all ages. Driven by the core of its mission, Ms. Cheh has led Morning Star to regional, national and international prominence, becoming the premier Korean cultural center in the United States. Morning Star has been featured at more than 1,300 events domestically and all over the world including Canada, Mexico, Japan, China, Australia, Mongolia, Germany, the Netherlands, France, Italy, Belgium, Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Vietnam, Myanmar, Brazil, Paraguay and Korea. In addition, Morning Star is responsible for the production of Narae, a highly-acclaimed cultural showcase held annually in October. Morning Star is committed to continually providing opportunities to those who want to experience Korean culture. It is through this cultural exchange where we hope to enrich the lives of those we touch and to celebrate the beauty of Korean culture.
