Posted: November 2, 2010 Regional Presidents, Please share this with your officers, players and coaches - Thank you! Once again, I want to express my deepest gratitude to Mark Corson, Paige Matzker-Thompson, Christina Costello and most recently, Jimmy Miller for their help in keeping our Constitution, By-Laws and Guidelines up to date. Before we met in Louisville, Mark, Paige, Christina and myself made many important changes that was left off for a couple of years. Not only that but Paige and Mark went years ago to make sure everything was updated. We were able to come up with new proposals. After our meeting in Louisville, Paige made further revisions with new motions from 2010 Louisville Minutes. After Paige's revisions, Jimmy, Christina and myself double checked and thought it is most up to date.

You Have to be deaf to understand the deaf
(Written at 1971 by Willard J. Madsen, professor of journalism at Gallaudet University. This poem was translated into seven different languages and reprinted in publications, including DEAF HERITAGE, p. 380.)
    Thoughts of a Deaf Child
My family knew that I was deaf When I was only three, and since then fifteen years ago Have never signed to me. I know when I'm around the house, I try and use my voice, It makes them feel more comfortable; For me, I have no choice. I try, communicate their way- Uncomfortable for me. My parents wouldn't learn sign Ashamed or apathy? I never cared about the sound of radios and bands; What hurts me most is, I never heard My parents' signing hands. -Stephen J. Bellitz

    Expressions From the Heart
Listen carefully and you will hear the heart beat of the Deaf. You will gain access to their world and their understanding and culture. You are privileged to be allowed to glimpse inside their world. Handle it gently. Allow yourself to feel what they feel, to experience what they have experienced. Allow it to impact your heart and then to bond you with this world. If you do, you will be forever changed... Silent Hands Can you hear me?
    Listen, not with your ears
    But with your eyes.
    To you they speak,
    My silent hands.
    Hear me tell my tale.
    Hear me sing my song.
    Learn my language,
    My beautiful native language.
Hear my hands, Hear my music and story. Learn my language. Speak to me with your hands. Share my beautiful language. Hear my silent hands. We have a tale to tell, A song to sing. Open your eyes And hear me speak. Author: Sandra L. Brooks Thoughts of a Deaf Child My family knew that I was deaf When I was only three, and since then fifteen years ago Have never signed to me. I know when I'm around the house

Test your musical skills in 6 minutes!
While working at the music and neuroimaging lab at Beth Israel/Harvard Medical School in Boston, I developed a quick online way to screen for the tonedeafness. It actually turned out to be a pretty good test to check for overall pitch perception ability. The test is purposefully made very hard, so excellent musicians rarely score above 80% correct. Give it a try! About me:
I am a resident in Radiology at Brigham and Women's Hospital. I am interested in applying radiological technology to brain tumor treatments, neurodegenerative diseases, and acute treatment of stroke. Before I started medical school, I had a career as a musician, composing several electronic music albums under my own name. My fourth album has just been released and is now available for purchase and preview at the iTunes music store. Flash is necessary to take the tonedeaf test. It may take a few moments to load, please be patient. After completing the test, your score will be automatically and anonymously submitted.
