From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation search This article is an orphan , as few or no other articles link to it . Please introduce links to this page from related articles suggestions may be available (February 2009) alt.fan.warlord is a Usenet newsgroup dedicated to the dissection and flaming of signature files (sigs) used in other Usenet groups. The newsgroup was best-known during the early and mid-1990s, but can no longer be considered active. In its time, it was a notable "underground" Internet phenomenon For the most part, alt.fan.warlord targeted sigs that violated a principle of Usenet netiquette known as the McQuary limit — i.e., the rule that a sig should be less than 80 columns wide (preferably 72 or less), and no longer than four lines. This limit kept Usenet messages reasonably short, conserving bandwidth , and ensured that an 80-column terminal — the most common display type — could display the sig properly without text wrapping to the following lines. The McQuary limit, sometimes referred to as the "McQ limit" and often misspelled "McQuarry," was named after George F. McQuary, a frequent contributor to alt.fan.warlord. Signatures in violation of the McQ limit sometimes stretched to hundreds of lines in length, including things such as

Dissecting the Modern American Female part I
David A. Archer
The modern American female is a quite curious creature, a
person of any walk must admit. Several years of close observation and study have prompted me to begin this work. I intend to address what I have observed and experienced from a very honest stand point. I do not intend to gloss anything over or “sugar coat” any aspect of what I have surmised…. Some of it quite alarming in the least. In the same notion, I do intend to maintain a very unbiased position. I do not intend for this to become a female bashing tool of any sort, only an honest observation for what ever it is worth. Further I should state that I spent no less than a decade in very close quarters with some of the most militant and extreme of the ‘feminist’ extremists. It proved to be quite enlightening and mostly to the effect that those extreme stances are actually as much or more susceptible to manipulation than those of the average American Female. Within that time period, I was fortunate enough to witness the existence of the other extreme within the very same physical areas…. Even in close quarters within the work place.

    http://www.atlantismantis.com/
Many moons ago the Earth was unified under the banner of a single great human civilisation with technology far in advance of your own. On the surface this megalithic civilisation seemed a peaceful, just and free society, but its cinema and visual media culture revealed the hypocracy and conflict inherent within. Driven finally to despair by the true state of civilisation, I, the Atlantis Mantis, once sworn protector of said Empire was forced to reduce the cities to rubble for your own good. Now I live again, casting judgement on your shambolic society with my segmented giant insect eye! Your culture reveals to me, oh humans, the folly of your race - so be warned! Sort out your cinema and popular culture or I shall get really really peeved and DESTROY YOU ALL, just to teach you a lesson!
These vulgar ramblings are all that stand between you and absolute destruction!

The full version can be found here The best thing about this set of charts is recognizing that the aggregate data may obscure differences between subgroups, something I address in Chapter 3 of Numbers Rule Your World . http://www.infocirc.org/dcooper.htm
Detroit Free Press March 8, 1999 Circumcision traditions challenged
    by Desiree Cooper
Throughout the continent of Africa and parts of Arabia and Asia, girls generally between ages 4 and 8 are subjected to an unspeakable cruelty. In a rite of passage, an elder removes their genitalia usually without anesthesia. Herbal pastes may be applied later to help heal the wound. The procedure leaves the girls permanently scarred, unable to ever have normal sex lives. The human-rights organization Amnesty International estimates that 135 million girls have undergone various forms of genital mutilation, which ranges from a clitoridectomy to stitching the entire vaginal area closed except for a small opening for urination. For some, the procedure has religious meaning. Amnesty International reports that although the practice predates Islam, it was adopted by some Muslims and survived among Christian converts. Ethiopian Jews also practice it. But for most, the ritual serves strictly cosmetic or cultural purposes, including controlling women's sexuality. "If you ask people who practice female genital mutilation, they'll tell you that it just makes the female anatomy look nicer and it's cleaner, " says Birmingham resident Norm Cohen. "And those are the same nonsensical justifications we use to circumcise boys."
