What are the signs and symptoms of dyslexia?
Auditory problems in dyslexia encompass a variety of functions. Commonly, a child may have difficulty remembering or understanding what he hears. Recalling sequences of things or more than one command at a time can be difficult. Parts of words or parts of whole sentences may be missed, and words can come out sounding funny. The wrong word or a similar word may be used instead. Children struggling with this problem may know what they want to say but have trouble finding the actual words to express their thoughts.

dyslexia is the most common reason a bright child will struggle with spelling, writing, or reading. But it affects many other areas as well.

Thank you so much for this reading system. This is the first time I have seen improvement in my son's reading. He has also noticed the improvement, which has made a huge difference in his attitude. Karon Bobbitt
Vernon, AL

My son entered the Barton program at the beginning of first grade. I was amazed at how much progress Grant made by the end of the year. He went from hating school to loving it. A huge part was due to his success in reading. I can't imagine where Grant would be without the Barton program. I hope other children who struggle with reading and learning disabilities will have the same opportunities that my son has had. Danielle Messinger
Pleasanton, CA

I am on Level 3 with my daughter. I see a HUGE improvement. I am no longer worried about junior and senior high. I know she will be ok. The Barton System is an answer to a prayer! Thank you!

UK Disability History Month
22nd November - 22nd December 2010
Help Save the Adult Dyslexia Organisation The Adult Dyslexia Organisation (ADO) will be continuing its fundraising appeal until the end of the UK Disability History Month (22nd November to 22nd December) to prevent closing its doors forever unless we raise some immediate funds to cover our rent and phone costs for the next two months. Will you please support us by sending your donation of £20, or whatever you can afford? No one can doubt these are hard times for the voluntary sector. We've got contracts, consultancies and conferences pending for next year, and a strategy for securing our long term future, but in the short term, we're struggling to keep going.
We've been making a significant difference to the lives of dyslexic adults for twenty years. If you or someone you know is dyslexic we've been there for you through the work we have done with the NHS, Job Centres, Prison Service, through Government Departments for Education and Employment, and the development of support groups in the Community, Education and the workplace.

It is an impairment in the brain's ability to translate images received from the eyes or ears into understandable language. Dyslexia does not result from vision or hearing problems. It is not due to mental retardation, brain damage, or a lack of intelligence. Dyslexia can go undetected in the early grades of schooling. The child can become frustrated by the difficulty in learning to read, and other problems can arise that disguise dyslexia. The child may show signs of depression and low self esteem. Behavior problems at home as well as at school are frequently seen. The child may become unmotivated and develop a dislike for school. The child's success in school may be jeopardized if dyslexia remains untreated. What causes Dyslexia? There are three main types of dyslexia that can affect the child's ability to spell as well as read. Each type of dyslexia has a different cause. The three main types are
