Earth Science Lesson Plans
I had a little extra money left in my charter school account that I needed to use up before the state took it back. So I took a risk and bought a little booklet called Earth Science Lesson Plans by Catherine Kinslow . I have no clue who this woman is or what kind of worldview persuasion she is from, but she doesn't appear to be promoting young-earth creationism.
Basically, this is a glorified reading schedule. There are 18 books plus a couple sets of rocks that need to be acquired in order to do the curriculum. That's the cumbersome (and expensive) part. You'd have to go on amazon (or some other vendor of your choice) and chase down 18 books. Some are out of print, but I was able to find them all except one on amazon from third-party resellers. Even if you can't find a couple of the books or they're too expensive, this program will probably still work.
Kinslow has assembled 43 "lessons" which basically consist of a short reading list of designated pages centered on a particular theme, such as "sedimentary rocks" or "plate tectonics." Most of the lessons include some kind of activity as well.

LessonCorner Lesson Plans for Earth Science Sandbox Sedimentology and Measurement of Angle of Repose
Students get a shoebox which they fill with sand, some students use wet sand some dry and students first must sieve gravel to recognize various ways of sorting sand. Then students can combine different sand types or keep them separate and will measure the angle of repose of different sand pyramids. Wet and dry, the idea is to study landslides and sedimentology in a visual way.

Doing Astrophysics Research with an Artificial Earth Orbiting Satellite, Sine Waves, The Electromagnetic Spectrum, Images of the Universe in Different Wavelengths, Satellite Communications, Satellite Dishes, Constellations and the Zodiac, Solar System Objects, Earthquakes, and More! When creating your own lesson, you may want to look at the following Lesson Plan Template
  • The Martian Sun-Times by Florence Vaughan and Jeff Benson. Intended for junior high school students and their teachers. Student weather reporters investigate seasons, temperatures and clouds on Mars and compare them to Earth. Electromagnetic Radiation - On Trial by Nellie Levine (aka N. Levandovsky.) Intended for high school students and their teachers. This lesson engages students in collaborative work to gather evidence regarding beneficial or nefarious properties of various types of electromagnetic radiation . Students place the electromagnetic spectrum "On Trial" and take advantage of an electronic interactive WWW forum to gather, post, and discuss their evidence. The Extreme Ultraviolet Explorer (EUVE) Satellite Orbit by Leslie Dietiker, Delano Spicer and Isabel Hawkins.

    Investigating Dinosaurs

    Students will:
explain that scientists have theories about what dinosaurs were like but that they don’t really know for sure describe how evidence is used to try to determine what a dinosaur looked like and how it behaved use evidence to support a theory about dinosaurs explain that when two scientists disagree about a theory, they can still both be practicing good science Materials
For this lesson, you will need:
chart paper markers copies of What Remains? worksheet copies of Dinosaur Footprints worksheet copies of What Happened Here? worksheet Procedures
Explain to students that they are going to learn about how scientists use evidence left by the dinosaurs to tell what dinosaurs looked like and how they behaved. Let students know that they will be trying to decide some things about dinosaurs from what dinosaurs left behind. Ask the members of the class to raise their hands if they have ever seen a re-creation of a dinosaur in a movie or on television. Ask them to name some movies in which they have seen these things. You can also ask them to name some places where they have seen or could see dinosaur skeletons or models.
