Stable economic policies however have very little to do with left wing or right wing. The OECD report of last week pulled no punches with regard to the negative economic effects of these over protected giants.

Update on Changes to the Association
by admin Dear Members and Friends of ASHEcon, We want to bring to your attention some exciting things happening with ASHEcon. As of the end of the year ASHEcon (formerly ASHE ) will be managed by the same people who manage the National Tax Association (NTA). Early in ASHecon’s history as a creation of the International Health Economics Association, it was agreed that ASHEcon would someday become independent from iHEA. That someday came this year. The relationship has been a good one, and we thank the people at iHEA for their terrific help. ASHEcon will continue to have a relationship with iHEA as one of its regional associations, but is now a separately incorporated corporation with its own management and staffing support. Jokes about economists and economics
I believe that even Adam Smith would enjoy these jokes. I have gathered these jokes from various sources, e.g. news, friends, readers of this page, etc. Unfortunately I wasn't able to list all the persons who invented these jokes which would probably be impossible. Therefore, I will not give the sources unless someone asks for it. All the following jokes are somehow related to the profession of economists. Though some jokes are more general and economist could be substituted with some else profession I try to maintain the "purity" of the page. No joke is completely politically correct even if I try to avoid personal or dirty jokes. Therefore, if you are afraid of being offended please do not continue. Otherwise, relax and be my guest! JokEc is a collection of professional humor for the benefit of economists as well as non-economists.

Economists Envision Slow Recovery Throughout 2011
Once looking for a greater recovery in 2011, economists have pulled back on their projections for improvement next year. For those hoping that 2011 would bring a strong recovery from the seemingly interminable recession that has gripped the U.S., it looks like disappointment is all that is in store. An Associated Press survey of economists painted a picture of slow recovery over the coming 12 to 18 months, and economists backed off their predictions that unemployment would fall to 8.7%, instead sticking with a more conservative predication of 9% at the end of 2011. Economists also are pushing back their estimated timetable for growth in other key areas, including hiring, spending and economic growth
Said Rajeev Dhawan, director of Georgia State Universitys Economic Forecasting Center, "When you look to 2011, the words to describe the economy are glum, lousy, subpar." That view, of course, is expected to have effects in the upcoming midterm elections as well, where Democrats are hoping not to lose too many seats in the House of Representatives at the hands of voters angry over continued bad news.
Add to that Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke s concerns of deflation and the coming year shapes up to be a little less rosy than initially anticipated. While the Fed will attempt to push the economy and stave of deflation by purchasing Treasury bonds, most economists are taking a "wait and see" approach before commenting on that move. Economists did, according to the AP poll, predict expansion of the
