        Egypt Culture and Tradition
When we talk about Egypt culture and tradition we talk about a mix of tribal customs, traditions dating from the pharaohs` times and modernity. Even from their ancient times, the Egyptians had a true preoccupation for their culture. A fact proved by the relics and artifacts found in the excavations made in the historical sites from Egypt. The royalty of the ancient Egypt had a cult for the gold jewelry and paid much attention to the clothes they were wearing, preferring the silk clothes. The life of the ancient Egyptians was coordinated by their gods and goddesses in who they have a very strong faith. The ancient Egypt's religious practices were related to the celestial bodies and their movements. More, the ancient Egyptians` literary culture is a very complex and rich one; the inscriptions from the tombs and the texts from the pyramids represent the best examples of the ancient literature of Egypt. The library of Alexandria was considered the world's biggest library, having numerous manuscripts of the Egypt's ancient literature. Today's culture in Egypt is a cosmopolitan one, in Egypt living people that have different background of culture. Egypt's culture is special and unique due to the fact that the Egyptians kept intact their old cultural heritage and in the same time, they created a new, modern cultural identity.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation search The Culture of Egypt has six thousand years of recorded history. Ancient Egypt was among the earliest civilizations . For millennia, Egypt maintained a strikingly complex and stable culture that influenced later cultures of Europe , the Middle East and Africa . After the Pharaonic era, Egypt itself came under the influence of Hellenism , for a time Christianity , and later, Arab and Islamic culture. Today, many aspects of Egypt's ancient culture exist in interaction with newer elements, including the influence of modern Western culture

The Egyptian language , which formed a separate branch among the family of Afro-Asiatic languages , was among the first written languages, and is known from hieroglyphic inscriptions preserved on monuments and sheets of papyrus . The Coptic language , the last stage of Egyptian, is today the liturgical language of the Coptic Orthodox Church . Hieroglyphs were written on peoples front doors, so that the news of the pharaoh would travel amongst everyone.

Trips Site Testimonials Egypt Culture and Traditions Egypt is a country with an immense cultural mix, In every major city in Egypt you will find traditions that remain from the time of the Pharaohs , and in other parts you will find pure tribal customs that were brought in by many invaders throughout the centuries. That contradiction and contrast between areas of Egypt, when you compare it with other Middle Eastern countries, is what makes Egypt seem advanced against some of the others. Yet here you will find that the customs and mentality tends to be full of warmth towards visitors and foreigners. I guess this could be the secret why Egypt is considered the most attractive country in the region for travellers. The pure nature of the local Egyptians pops up whenever you need help or when they invite you into their homes and when they hardly know you, or when they smile in your face! All of that makes a visit to Egypt a wonderful and unforgettable experience. Yet when travellers come to Egypt they are often apprehensive, their views of Egyptians and Arabs, fomented by unkind and untrue media stories, often bear no relation to reality. Travellers, when they meet Egyptians are often surprised by their friendly, hospitable reception and take home with them good feelings about Egypt and its population.

People of Egypt The Nile Valley, the Nile Delta, the Suez Canal region, and the northern coastal region of the Sinai Peninsula are the areas which are mainly inhabited. Besides this, small groups of people also live in the oases of the Libyan Desert and in the oil-drilling and mining towns of the Arabian Desert. Most Egyptians are descendants of the ancient Egyptians, a race who had originated in northeastern Africa. Besides this, a small group of nomadic Bedouins also exist in Egypt. The ancestors of the Egyptians were made up of many races and ethnic groups, but today, the population is relatively uniform in terms of language and religion. Arts, Culture and Music of Egypt Egypt is heavily into music and dance. The country's belly- dance has gained recognition across the world. Apart from this, specific dance troupes specialize in modern adaptations of folk dances. As far as music is concerned, many eminent singers have made a name for themselves...for instance, Sayyid Darwish who composed operas, and popular songs, was the leading figure in Egyptian music in the early 20th century. Other singers include Umm Kulthum and Layla Murad, Muhammad Abd 'al-Wahhab, and Abd al-Halim Hafiz.
Flag of Egypt The flag of Egypt has three equal horizontal bands of red, white, and black. In the center of the white band, the national emblem (a shield superimposed on a golden eagle facing the hoist side above a scroll bearing the name of the country in Arabic) is present.

Africa Egypt / Culture Egypt Information Egypt Costs Egypt History Egypt Culture ... Egypt Nightlife Due to its long existence, Egypt has a very complex culture, made even more so by being combined with the cultures of its previous invaders. Somewhere in the middle of it all, there is a hint of Arab, Greek, Christian, and Islamic culture. Its ancient culture may be described as literally rich, filled with discoveries of ways to make life more beautiful and comfortable. The Egyptians were the first to develop henna. The modern day, removable tattoo ink and hair color. They were also the ones who devised the controversial hieroglyphs. They had their own religion involving gods with heads of animals. More importantly, they were the first to use the concept of pyramids in architecture. After the invasions, the country was able to maintain some of the upper-mentioned elements of culture. There were only a few things added, such as the list of religions became longer, Islam and Christianity becoming the new addition. There was also an addition in the system of writing and speaking. The way people are dressed was also slightly modified.

See also from Tour Egypt Monthly In reading several books regarding Egyptian travel, this author was surprised to see the Egyptian populous divided into four cultural groups consisting of Copts, Bedouins, Nubians and Egyptian peasants, or fallahin. Upon closer examination, fallahins are presented basically as farmers living in villages. Perhaps this is a correct and traditional definition of the word fallahin, but it was immediately apparent that this division of cultural groups was out of touch with reality, and showed no feeling for Egypt's true flavor. Egypt is actually a wonderful and delightful mixture of traditions, with a socioeconomic structure which allows, more and more, a gradient of classes. But one must look, and feel with the heart in order to touch this essence of Egypt.
