Eiffel is used in the finance, aerospace, cheesemongering, video-gaming , and various other industries as a development platform. It's most famous use of course, was the programming of the Eiffel Tower , which stands at an impressive 1,063 lines of code - the tallest program in the world at the time of its compilation.
edit Features
The key features of the Eiffel language include:
  • A rich built-in library of wine- and cheese-specific functions Support for the character that looks like a c with a beard Juste-en-temps compilation Croissant overflow buffers The inability to run the compiled code on English computers

Eiffel is an ISO -standardized object-oriented programming language designed for extensibility, reusability, reliability and programmer productivity. Eiffel is used in academia as a language for teaching computer-programming principles, and in industries (such as finance, aerospace, health-care, and video-gaming) as a development platform. Since 1985, many suppliers have developed Eiffel programming environments.
The design of the Eiffel language is closely connected with the Eiffel programming method. Both are based on a set of principles, including Design by contract Command-query separation Uniform access principle Single choice principle ... Open-closed principle , and Option-Operand separation.

Eiffel in a Nutshell
Here is what everyone needs to know about Eiffel. You'll find lots more details in the rest of these Web pages. For the busiest of the busiest there is also the 1-minute summary After reading the present page you can use the complete Eiffel page to find links to many more detailed entries.
What is Eiffel?
Good question. Answering "an object-oriented language " is correct, but only part of the story. Eiffel is the only O-O language that also includes a comprehensive approach to software construction: a method , and an environment (EiffelStudio). The language itself is not just a programming language but also covers analysis, design and implementation.
What are the goals of Eiffel?
    Eiffel pursues four major goals:
    • To give you a competitive edge by enabling you to get your software out fast. To lower your maintenance and support costs by letting you produce bug-free software software that works the first time around. To allow you to react quickly to market demands by producing software that is easy to change and extend in response to user requests.
