The two main islands, East Falkland and West Falkland are surrounded by 700 islet
The coasts are extremely indented and provide numerous anchoring places for boats. Sheltered creeks , l ong beaches of white sand and steep cliffs offer visitors very varied panoramas.
The land is basically made up of meadows and moors . Numerous streams ponds and lakes , most of which are not very deep, give life to a dry and rather forbidding countryside
Topographically speaking, the isles are generally cut by valleys with the highest point being Mount Usborne, at 705 metres, on the eastern isle and Mount Adam at 700 metres height, on the western isle. The slopes are often covered with fields of stones probably due to the collapsing of mountain summits, thousands of years ago. The presence of strange in certain parts is still today a mystery.

Bed and Breakfasts in the Falkland Islands One of the most secluded getaway locations in the world.
From Elizabeth Arneson , former About.com Guide
    See More About:
zSB(3,3) The Falkland Islands, an overseas U.K. territory, are one of the most remote destinations on earth. The islands are in the South Atlantic Ocean, near the southernmost tip of South America, 300 miles east of the coast of Argentina. The British influence is most visible in the capital of Stanley (population about 2,000), which also is the smallest and most remote capital city in the world. Other towns are even more remote, so don't plan to undertake many city-based activities if you visit the Falklands. What can you do? Enjoy spectacular views and extraordinary wildlife. Take long, meandering walks. Enjoy the pubs in Stanley. Take advantage of the Maine-like weather, with temperatures ranging from 22 degrees Farenheit in July to 70 degrees Farenheit in January. And relax. Falkland Island Bed and Breakfasts and Small Hotels

Visitors can rent two cottages during the summer season (remember that summer in the Falklands and the rest of the Southern Hemisphere is winter in the United States and the rest of the Northern Hemisphere).
