"Hadley is the most beautiful place on earth," the widely traveled Clifton Johnson once declared. "Any prospective museum should be located here."
Hadley Farm Museum The Hadley Farm Museum houses an incredible collection of vehicles and equipment used on New England farms and farmhouses from the late 1700s to the early 20th century. Located in a 1782 barn, the museum showcases many items just as they would have been found on the farm. What's inside? The first broom making machine, spinning wheels, cobblers' benches, hay tedders, butter churns, furnishings, tools, toys, and many more historic artifacts of times gone by. Also on display is our newly restored stagecoach (climb inside!) that led Hadley's 350th Celebration parade. The Hadley Farm Museum is located in the historic town of Hadley, Massachusetts, next to the Town Hall and near the Congregational Church with its unusual, beautiful spire. It is located at the junction of Routes 9 and 47, just four miles from Northampton, on the way to Amherst.

On the Farm
Harvest history at these farm museums, exhibits
The blacksmith shop at the National Agricultural Center and Hall of Fame has hundreds of anvils. /Bill Stephens, Kansas Tourism photo The very roots of America are planted in its farming heritage. From the first days when the colonists set foot in the New World and the Native Americans offered rudimentary lessons in planting crops, agriculture has been at the heart of our lives.
But a handful of museums and living history farms in the region offer a glimpse of the history of agriculture, from its hardscrabble beginnings to an industry marked by great gains in science and technology. What follows are a few examples that showcase the significance and spirit of farming.
Fame for farmers
The 172-acre complex, located in Bonner Springs just west of Kansas City, is both an educational tour of the history and importance of agriculture and a celebration of the outstanding achievements by farmers. The center features thousands of artifacts in several buildings.
The final area features a collection of buildings that make up a re-created rural village from the early 1900s. Known as Farm Town U.S.A., the village has replicas of a blacksmith shop, general store, poultry hatchery and a farmhouse. And visitors will find a 100-year-old railroad depot, a Union Pacific caboose and an operational narrow-gauge railroad, which runs on summer weekends.

One-Room School House at
The West Virginia State Farm Museum
T he "Mission Ridge One-Room School" It was originally located about two miles northeast of the Farm Museum grounds on a ridge known as Mission Ridge, hence the name. It was built about 1870. Soon after West Virginia became a state, which was on June 20th, 1863, the state legislature passed a bill making it mandatory for the various counties of the state to finance the construction and operation of schools. Before becoming a state, while this area was still part of Virginia, the Virginia legislature had passed a bill giving various counties permission to levy for the operation and construction of free schools. However, very few counties or districts in West Virginia took advantage of this particular legislation. So, after West Virginia became a state, the legislature passed a bill making it mandatory for counties to operate free schools. Soon, school buildings began to be built throughout the state. The one-room school was an important institution in the rural communities of West Virginia for a number of years. One-room schools were quite common in all counties of West Virginia until a few years after World War II. At that time, many of the counties began a consolidation program. Roads were improved so that school buses could travel in all kinds of weather. Thus, many of the one-room schools were closed, and the students were brought to a central school.

55. Farm Museums In Southern Germany And Austria
Farm Museums in Southern Germany and Austria. Throughout Germany and Austria are many openair museums displaying typical old farms and local buildings, excellently restored
http://www.bensbauernhof.com/openairmuseums.html
Farm Museums in Southern Germany and Austria Throughout Germany and Austria are many open-air museums displaying typical old farms and local buildings, excellently restored for public viewing. The most famous building in the Black Forest is probably the Vogtsbauernhof - a centuries old farm that is the centerpiece of the near the village of Gutach . The Vogtsbauernhof is the only farmhouse at the museum that was not moved from another location. There are many other buildings to include mills, a bakehouse, a distillery, a chapel and blacksmith shops. Several folklore and lifestyle exhibits and at various times you can view demonstrations of all the old crafts. Seldom do I visit the Schwarzwald without a walkthru of this wonderful old Frelichtmuseum.
This Open-air Museum is located in the old town of Bad Windsheim which is about 24 km northeast of Rothenburg o.d.T . The has 60 plus original buildings representing the rural past of Franconia and is one of the largest of its type in southern Germany. Lots of farms, houses, handicraft and workshops, and mills throughout the property. We visited in June 1999 and one of my 10 yr old daughter's favorite memories was seeing a shepherd near the front gate with his flock of sheep. A worthwhile half-day trip (or less) if you are staying in or near Rothenburg for a few days.

The farm encompasses a 47-acre parcel that is the longest continuously farmed site in New York State. The site includes historic farm buildings, a greenhouse complex, livestock, farm vehicles and implements, planting fields, an orchard and herb garden.
