Welome to Pelt Farm home of Folk Artist, Ken Pelt. Pelt Farm is composed of two parts. The Mirtie and Charlie Pelt Farm established in 1926 and the Mattie and Ben Jacobsen Farm established in 1906. Three hours after Ken Pelt was born in the nearby town of Sour Lake, he was at home at Pelt Farm in the community of Pine Ridge. During his lifetime he has lived in other places to attend college and earn a living, but never far from Pelt Farm. In 1974 he came back to Peft Farm to stay. Today Pelt Farm maintains herds of Choctaw Indian Horses and Texas Longhorn Cattle. However, the main focus for the future is on the folk art paintings and writings of Folk Artist, Ken Pelt. A gallery to house the twenty-two paintings now completed and included in the just released book, Boyhood Memories along with Volume Two and Three will be housed in the gallery to be completed in 2011.

Landis Valley Museum is home to the Heirloom Seed Project . Established in the mid 1980s, the Heirloom Seed Project's focus is on seed preservation, seeds from heirloom varieties of vegetable herbs and ornamentals that have historical significance for Pennsylvania Germans from 1750 to 1940. Heirloom or open pollinated fruit brings our history into the present with flavors and beauty from the past. Unlike hybrid plants, gardeners can save seeds from heirloom varieties with the assurance that the fruit from each new generation of plants will bear fruit that is similar to the fruit from the past seasons. For a list of heirloom varieties for 2010 and an order blank CLICK HERE . For descriptions of our heirloom varieties please CLICK HERE . You may order by phone (717-569-0401) ext. 204, fax (717-560-2147) or Email . We accept Visa and Mastercard. The Heirloom Seed Project also sells heirloom varieties of plants during Herb and Garden Faire, mid-May. For information about the Herb and Garden Faire

73. Lancaster Family Museums
Farm Museums The farms open to visitors in Lancaster County can be defined as museums in the very broadest sense of the word. However, I wanted to include some of them in this
http://www.welcome-to-lancaster-county.com/lancaster-family-museums.html
Don't Miss the Many Lancaster Family Museums
A great thing about the Lancaster family museums is that they can provide an educational experience while truly be entertaining for the entire family. In any case, many of these Lancaster family museums involve walking among some of the prettiest scenery in Pennsylvania. That alone makes for a superb family experience. Here are some of the Lancaster family museums which I feel will appeal to kids of all ages. Please keep in mind that there will be some overlap with some of the other categories of museum that I've included on this site. Also, some of the places mentioned may not fall within the strictest definition of what a museum is generally thought to be. The Lancaster family museums selected here are sites where I feel that your family is most likely to learn about the region's fascinating cultures and as well as others subjects - while having loads of fun at the same time.
