Image from WorldsFairPhotos.com, the Bill Cotter collection, with our sincere thanks. Man and His World International Fine Arts Exhibition Expo 67 Montréal Canada Art is the sublime manifestation of Man his part of divinity. The artist creates. Whether his inspiration springs from the world surrounding him or whether it wells from the secret arcana of his being, he gives shape, rhythm and beauty to the work being born to a certain extent by his hand, but more profoundly by his soul. All these works of art which have come to us from the remote past, if not more recently, comprise humanity's most sacred heritage. But it is only the privileged few who can become acquainted with all of it, make it their staff of life. One must be able to travel. A unique occasion is now offered. It is not for us to go towards the masterpieces, but for them to come to us, thanks, on the one hand, to the co-operation of a group of specialists, whom I thank from the warmest depths of my friendship for their lovingly selected collection of some two hundred paintings, sculptures, mosaics, tapestries, manuscripts and other works of art, which illustrate the theme of our World Exhibition and, on the other hand, thanks to the most highly appreciated generosity of the governments and participating countries, and of a few private collectors, who have accepted the risk entailed by the removal of these works of art, so that you may admire them.

Studies in the Fine Arts Include drawing, life drawing, painting, color and design, and printmaking. The Fine Arts program serves students seeking to transfer or to work towards an associate of art degree. Oxnard College's McNish Art Gallery is an integral part of instruction. It features eight exhibitions during the fall and spring semesters, which reflect professional work representing courses taught in the program. These include group and solo shows, a guest-curated show, and a juried student art show. The gallery program supports the educational mission of Oxnard College through its educational program and formal exhibition of contemporary works of art. The gallery also serves the art history, studio arts, and liberal arts program by providing an opportunity for learning about art. There is a very strong Ceramics Program at Oxnard College with students who develop their craft from beginner to advanced Ceramics levels. Students learning about the media of clay and learning how to sculpt, paint, and fire their ceramics work in the industry quality kilns in the department. Students who have graduated from the program have won countless awards for their works of art. The department welcomes students of all ability levels, particularly the beginner who has never touched clay before. Students should prepare themselves for wonderful experience in the study of Ceramics.

Why the Fine Arts Are Important
The Garland Independent School is committed to the education of the whole child and as a component of that education believes that every student should have a basic knowledge, skills and appreciation of the fine arts. The Texas Coalition for Quality Arts Education sites the following information about the importance of fine arts education: Read an important letter from Dr. Rod Paige , Secretary, U.S. Department of Education (and former Superintendent of the Houston Independent School District), pertaining to the importance of arts education in our schools. The arts make a contribution to education that reaches beyond their intrinsic value as direct forms of thinking. Because each arts discipline appeals to different senses and expresses itself through different media, each adds a special richness to the learning environment. As students imagine, create, and reflect, they are developing both verbal and nonverbal abilities necessary to school progress. At the same time, they are developing problem-solving abilities and higher-order thinking skills. Research points toward a consistent and positive correlation between a substantive education in the arts and student achievement in other subjects and on standardized tests. A comprehensive, articulated arts education program also engages students in a process that helps them develop the self-discipline, cooperation, and self-motivation necessary for self-esteem and success for life.

The Fine Arts Academy (FAA) at McCallum provides a program for students across Austin to pursue an accelerated arts curriculum as fine arts majors. FAA attracts a diverse student body from across the metroplex, including students from private and parochial schools. The idea for a Fine Arts high school for Austin was inspired by Ruth Denney, who founded Houston's High School for Performing and Visual Arts after retiring as a professor at UT Austin. Partly as a result of Denney's involvement, McCallum Fine Arts Academy was embraced by UT College of Fine Arts (COFA) from its inception and a strong partnership with COFA continues today. Austin ISD supports the Academy with funding for additional staffing and technology to support the arts curricula. By creating a high school with a fine arts focus for Austin, the Academy has created mutually supportive partnerships with arts organizations and artists across the region.
