Finland Government
Finland declared independence in 1917. Finland’s government consists of two major systems: parliamentary and presidential. Accordingly the executive power is exercised both by the Parliament and the President. Constitutionally the president is considered to be the head of the state and  he has the responsibility to appoint the cabinet and the prime minister,  he is the commander-in-chief of the armed forces and is in charge of a  foreign policy. The presidential elections are held every six years by a popular vote. However changes made in the constitution of Finland on 1March, 2000 increased the power of the prime minister and limited the power of the president. The Parliament of Finland, unicameral Eduskunta, consists of 200 members and the main authority of Finland is vested upon it. Constitutionally the Parliament members are elected for a 4 year term. People over 18 are eligible for the position.  The Parliament has the power to dissolve the Council of State, make changes in the constitution and rescind presidential vetoes.
Parliament consist three main bodies:  plenary session, committees and the parliamentary groups. Each of them has its own functions and responsibilities.

Finland Government
Finland Government is mainly based on the principles of democracy, republic and parliamentarism. The government of Finland refers to the working body of the government in the form of a cabinet . Apart from the cabinet, there is also a separate decision making body in the parliament, who decides regarding the important issues of the country. The parliament of Finland has all the legislative powers vested in it, while the executive powers are controlled by the State Council , headed by the Prime Minister of the country.
Finland government also has a President, who does not actively participate in the governance of the country. He has a major role to play in some special matters of the country including pardons and appointment of individuals. The parliament of Finland can question the Prime Minister and his cabinet ministers regarding the functioning of the country or any issue related to them directly. There are separate ministries in Finland, which take care of different fields allotted to them. With 13 ministries in Finland Government, all the matters fall under the parliament of the country.
National elections are held in Finland to choose the popular government of the country. People cast their votes in favor of their candidate and try to bring the most eligible candidate to the ruling party. There have been several coalition governments in Finland due to the multi-party system in the country. The Presidential election in Finland takes place after every six years.

Politics: As many as a dozen parties actively articulate wide range of political viewpoints. Smaller number of parties, socialist and nonsocialist, have participated in cabinet governments in the postwar era. All parties with members in Eduskunta obtain state subsidies. Party newspapers also enjoy state financial support. Legal System: Independent judges and constitutional guarantees protect integrity of judicial system consisting of general courts that deal with civil and criminal cases and administrative courts concerned with appeals against decisions of government agencies. General courts exist at three levels: local, appeal, and Supreme Court; administrative courts exist at provincial and Supreme Administrative Court levels.
