About the USFCAM
The USF Institute for Research in Art is recognized by the State of Florida as a major cultural institution and receives funding through the Florida Department of State, the Florida Arts Council and the Division of Cultural Affairs. The Contemporary Art Museum is accredited by the American Association of Museums
Our Mission
The primary mission of the USF Contemporary Art Museum is to bring to the University and the Tampa Bay community vital, investigative and scholarly contemporary exhibitions, while simultaneously contributing to the dialogue within the international arts community by organizing exhibitions, producing relevant catalogues, scheduling critically significant traveling exhibitions and by underwriting experimental projects of artists emerging on the national and the international fronts. Parallel to this purpose is an ongoing commitment to provide the educational underpinnings necessary for the assimilation of issues at the core of contemporary art for an audience that includes community and corporate members, students, faculty, staff, administrators, scholars, critics, historians and artists. The Museum's educational philosophy, consistent with the approach to exhibitions, is to contribute to the ongoing research of leading artists, critics, and historians by organizing symposia, conferences and lectures to discuss and analyze current issues in art and society. The museum is a laboratory for scholars, museum professionals, students, interns and artists. The USF Contemporary Art Museum collects and maintains a collection of contemporary art and makes it available as a visual library for students, and as an enrichment to a broad and varied constituency through loans and direct access. Museum Memberships, both Private and Corporate help subsidize the museum's operating and exhibition costs.

Re: "Governor's Mansion to get library add-on" (news article, Aug. 10).
I find it ironic and appalling that the man who gutted the State Library of
Florida, the state-designated repository for Floridiana, has the audacity
to not only build a library/monument to himself, but also to solicit the
donation of "any books of historical value to our state." The State Library was designed to house such collections and make them available to the people of Florida. They will only molder in the Bush

fl-lib list re-creation
Posted Friday, February 13, 2009 by mdeeney , Library Staff Colleagues: Recently, the server that supports the State Library and Archives’ e-mail distribution lists crashed.  We need to recreate and rebuild the various library lists that are used for announcements and messages to the library community. We need your assistance to rebuild the subscriber list for the fl-lib listserv.  We were unable to recreate the subscriber list to fl-lib, and as a result, we need all of you to re-subscribe to fl-lib. The fl-lib listserv is a service provided by the State Library and Archives of Florida.  It is devoted to messages and discussions relating to the library community in Florida.  Participation in the list is open to anyone, anywhere.  Membership is not required. This list is used to post announcements from the State Library and Archives, funding opportunities for libraries, e-rate information, questions from library staff on services and programs, etc.  It is not designed for vendors to promote their products.
