Gender issues
Norwegian legislation stipulates that all public institutions in Norway must take active steps to promote gender equality. The Research Council bears national responsibility for research policy-related activities to analyse and develop gender research, gender perspectives as well as gender equality in research. The Council is also responsible for initiating, implementing and monitoring research activities within this field.
Gender equality in the higher education sector
In Norway, all public institutions are required by law to work actively to promote gender equality, and these efforts are to be documented each year. Norwegian universities and university colleges have drawn up specific action plans on gender equality. In 2007 the Ministry of Education and Research established a national committee to promote gender equality in science.

Gender Issues and Actions: A Community Encounter
This session will provide a forum for community participantsmembers of Divisions 35 and 51 as well as others interested and involved in gender related interventions and research to share and explore their views and concerns. Although a panel of representatives from both divisions will supply focus by having provided brief abstracts/position statements ahead of time (on-line and as a handout for attendees), no one will actually present a paper. A brief, experiential stimulus exercise will be used to actively engage all participants. The goal of the session is to reaffirm the ties between the two sponsoring divisions and to serve as a reminder of the common commitments and foci shared. Participant Summaries
Roberta Nutt Title: Feminism Is For Everybody
My professional interest in the psychology of men and masculinity began more than 20 years ago when I first began teaching graduate courses in the psychology of women. It quickly became obvious to me that society was not going to become more fair toward and nurturing of women until we also examined companion gender-role socialization issues for men. These gender-role messages functioned as two sides of the same problem. As I pursued these two interests, I began to see them as inseparable and viewed feminism as aimed toward freeing all people from the limitations of gender roles. Hence, I view feminism as a pathway for both women and men to free themselves from restrictive role expectations. One goal is true gender understanding of each other's perspectives and experiences.

Gender Issues Gender In CLTL Gender In The CLTL Setting Coed Groups In CLTL Speaking As A Woman Gender Issues
In the beginning, CLTL classes were composed of either all-male or all-female student populations. It seemed apparent that the differences in social, political, and economic issues between men and women dictated such segregation. We still believe that for the most part. However, based on other strategies, several co-ed programs have been successful. This series of essays explores the issue of gender and CLTL from many angles.

Where the Girls Aren't
One camp says that girls see computers as a communications tool, and the best way to engage them is to exploit that and offer classes that stress using programs say, designing Web sites or online magazines over creating them. The other side says that such preferences exist only because no one has tried to expand girls' technological horizons. Posted by rshah on January 12, 2003 Comments (0)

But this is more than tits and giggles — it’s serious business. Digital breasts that move like real ones were previously impossible to achieve. An enormous amount of modeling, programming, math, and physics underlie these new, um, developments. “I never imagined that I’d be using my expertise in this manner and consider myself very, very lucky,” says XXX programmer Nick Torkos. “Hopefully this will convince others to study math.” Posted by rshah on January 09, 2003 Comments (0)

W elcome to Women's Studies at the University of Texas at Arlington! A s a discipline, Women's Studies addresses issues previously neglected by traditional disciplines, and adapts and redefines theories and methods from those disciplines. Women's studies is not simply the study of women and women's issues. It is the study of women which places women's own experiences at the center of inquiry. What other disciplines use as assumptions about women, Women's Studies poses as questions. As a result, Women's Studies produces its own body of scholarship, and at the same time casts new light on traditional disciplines. T he UTA Women's Studies Program is a flexible and coherent interdisciplinary program taught by faculty from diverse fields. The program offers students a unique opportunity to complement a traditional discipline with a self-designed minor. It also can constitute an area of concentration for the Interdisciplinary Studies major. Coursework prepares graduates for a variety of graduate programs and for careers in an increasingly gender-integrated workplace. These include, but are not limited to, social work, management, employee relations, sales, counseling and education.
