History
PEOPLE HAVE DWELLED for thousands of years in the territory now occupied by the Federal Republic of Germany. The first significant written account of this area's inhabitants is Germania , written about A.D. 98 by the Roman historian Tacitus. The Germanic tribes he describes are believed to have come from Scandinavia to Germany about 100 B.C., perhaps induced to migrate by overpopulation. The Germanic tribes living to the west of the Rhine River and south of the Main River were soon subdued by the Romans and incorporated into the Roman Empire. Tribes living to the east and north of these rivers remained free but had more or less friendly relations with the Romans for several centuries. Beginning in the fourth century A.D., new westward migrations of eastern peoples caused the Germanic tribes to move into the Roman Empire, which by the late fifth century ceased to exist. One of the largest Germanic tribes, the Franks, came to control the territory that was to become France and much of what is now western Germany and Italy. In A.D. 800 their ruler, Charlemagne, was crowned in Rome by the pope as emperor of all of this territory. Because of its vastness, Charlemagne's empire split into three kingdoms within two generations, the inhabitants of the West Frankish Kingdom speaking an early form of French and those in the East Frankish Kingdom speaking an early form of German. The tribes of the eastern kingdomFranconians, Saxons, Bavarians, Swabians, and several otherswere ruled by descendants of Charlemagne until 911, when they elected a Franconian, Conrad I, to be their king. Some historians regard Conrad's election as the beginning of what can properly be considered German history.

History in Germany
Edit This The rise of Prussian power in the 19th century supported by growing German nationalism eventually ended inter-state fighting and resulted in the formation of the German empire in 1871 under the chancellorship of Otto von Bismarck.
Fascism's rise and defeat
The postwar Weimar Republic (1919-33) was an attempt to establish a peaceful liberal democratic regime in Germany. This government was severely handicapped and eventually doomed by economic problems and the inherent weakness of the Weimar state. The inflation of the early 1920s the world depression of the 1930s and the social unrest stemming from the draconian conditions of the Versailles Treaty worked to destroy the Weimar government from inside and out. The National Socialist (Nazi) Party led by Adolf Hitler stressed nationalist themes and promised to put the unemployed back to work. The party blamed many of Germany's ills on alleged Jewish conspiracies. Nazi support expanded rapidly in the early 1930s. Hitler was asked to form a government as Reich Chancellor in January 1933. After President Paul von Hindenburg died in 1934 Hitler assumed that office as well. Once in power Hitler and his party first undermined then abolished democratic institutions and opposition parties. The Nazi leadership attempted to remove or subjugate the Jewish population in Germany and later on in the occupied countries forced emigration and ultimately genocide. Hitler restored Germany's economic and military strength but his ambitions led Germany into World War II. For Germany World War II resulted in the destruction of its political and economic infrastructures led to its division and left a humiliating legacy.

Nuremberg Germany History
The Nuremberg Germany History already started in the 11th century. From 1050 to 1571, Nuremberg Germany was a regular stop on the progression of the Holy Roman Emperor, particularly because Reichstage (Imperial Diets) and courts met at Nuremberg Castle. The Diets of Nuremberg Germany were an important part of the administrative structure of the empire, so yet a "dot" in the Nuremberg Germany History. In 1219, Nuremberg became an Imperial Free City under Emperor Frederick II. Soon after that it became, together with Augsburg, one of the two great trade centers on the route from Italy to Northern Europe. The cultural flowering of Nuremberg in the 15th and 16th centuries made it the center of the German Renaissance. Nuremberg Germany accepted the Reformation in 1525 as well as the religious peace of Nuremberg in 1532, by which the Lutherans gained important concessions. Because of its relevance to the Holy Roman Empire, in line with the connotations raised by the term Third Reich, the Nazis chose the city as the site of their large NSDAP party conventions. You can see many examples of Nazi architecture in the city, so it might become an interesting visit for you if you are interested in the History of Germany overall. After Adolf Hitler came to power, Nuremberg Germany was the home of the Nazi leader Julius Streicher and became a center of anti-Semitic propaganda, including the famous Nuremburg rallies.

Hanover Germany was a small village of ferrymen and fishermen, which became a comparatively large town in the 13th century. In the 14th century, the main churches were built, as well as a city wall with three town gates that should secure the city. In 1636, Duke of Calenberg decided to move his residence to the town. His duchy was afterwards known as the Duchy of Hanover. His descendants would later become kings of Great Britain; the first of them was George I, who ascended to the British throne in 1714. Three kings of Great Britain were at the same time Electoral Princes of Hanover. During the Seven Years' War on July 26, 1757, the Battle of Hastenbeck took place. The French army defeated the Hanoverian Army of Observation, leading to the occupation of Hanover Germany. Skyline of Hanover Large Source After Napoleon imposed the Convention of Artlenburg (Convention of the Elbe) on July 5, 1803 about 30,000 French soldiers occupied here. The convention also meant the disbanding of the army of the city. George III did not recognize the Convention of the Elbe and made an effort to recruit foreign troops. As a result, a great number of soldiers eventually emigrated to England leading to the King's German Legion which later played an important role in the Battle of Waterloo. At the Congress of Vienna in 1814, George III elevated the electorate to the Kingdom of this city. The capital town expanded to the opposite bank of the Leine river and grew considerably.
