    Health through a better environment
Proper environmental management is the key to avoiding the quarter of all preventable illnesses which are directly caused by environmental factors. The environment influences our health in many ways — through exposures to physical, chemical and biological risk factors, and through related changes in our behaviour in response to those factors. Thirteen million deaths annually are due to preventable environmental causes. Preventing environmental risk could save as many as four million lives a year, in children alone, mostly in developing countries. Public health and environment topics and technical information

The place where we live can influence our health. Environment consists of factors like the air we breathe, the water we drink and the land on which we live and grow food . All the mentioned factors also influence our general health and well-being. We try and improve our health by controlling our exposure to pollution and other such natural factors. How does Environment effect you? Flooding Climate change means that flooding is likely to happen more often in the world. Flooding is one of the main factors that has been affecting the physical and mental health of people. Losing your home and possessions can be extremely upsetting especially for the vulnerable older people and young children. This also can cause physical health problems. Floods also carry a greater health risk because the water may contain sewage and other pollutants. Climate change With time we have witnessed an increase in temperatures. If there is an increase in the hot weather, then it can cause people to die from heat stress. Heat stress is caused when the body is unable to control its temperatures Chemicals All of us are exposed to a large number of natural and man-made chemicals every day. There are a lot of health effects of chemicals like asbestos, lead and dioxins. Many people are unware that these chemicals can cause such health effects. Even though the governments of various countries are working to reduce these effects, the efforts are still not enough.
