We have developed a health and environment programme which operates alongside our work ensuring people and environment are prioritised during governmental decision making. We make sure good environmental laws are created and enforced to ensure people are able to live in a healthy environment.
Through our CleanAir campaign, we seek real improvements in the levels of air pollution in London. Meanwhile, the toxics element of the programme sees a team of lawyers and scientists monitor the implementation of REACH: the Regulation on the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals. This legislation was created to limit the harm caused to human health and environment by toxic chemicals.

About the Health Department Prevention, people and partnerships sum up the work of local public health programs. The main purpose of public health is to make sure all of us have the opportunity to be healthy in mind, body and spirit. Most public health work is population-based, meaning it focuses on improving the health of the entire community rather than addressing individual health care needs. The vision, mission, values and position of Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment (WCDPHE) were developed with these ideals in mind. WCDPHE is overseen by an executive director. The Board of County Commissioners, appoints the department's director, who subsequently is responsible for the staff. The department receives about one-third of its funds from Weld County, one-third from State funds and one-third fees for services. The Health Department is organized into five service divisions: Administrative, Emergency Preparedness and Epidemiology, Environmental Health, Health Communication, Education and Planning, and Public Health Services. Legislative Updates
Lexie's Law, effective July 1, 2010 Proposed Amended Regulation During the 2010 Legislative Session, lawmakers passed Senate Substitute for HB 2356, also known as Lexie's Law. This law increases protections for Kansas children and supports families in making informed child care choices. The Child Care Licensing and Registration Program is currently reviewing requirements of the law. At this time, efforts are focused on transitioning all existing Registered homes to licensed, as the law eliminates the Registered Family Day Care Home category effective June 30, 2011. The website contains several links to more information about Lexie's Law, including summary points and full text of the bill, the Department's transition plan, and Frequently Asked Questions. The Department and local health departments are working closely with child care providers across the state toward a smooth transition.

King Abdullah has inserted new spirit in the Jordanian state through economic liberalisation, gradual democratisation and a semi-liberal approach to Arab nationalism. The country has managed to steer a reasonably steady path through regional instability, external economic shocks and the massive influx of Iraqi refugees. Such resilience will be further tested as climate change attacks Jordan's longstanding vulnerability to chronic water scarcity. addthis_pub = 'billgunyon'; addthis_logo = 'http://admin.www.uk.oneworld.net/ezimagecatalogue/catalogue/variations/19968-150x150.gif'; updated December 2008 Poverty in Jordan Jordan is classified as a middle-income country whose government conveys a sense of genuine concern for poverty issues, allocating financial resources for social development at a proportion of national income which its regional peers rarely match.
