Coping with Congenital Heart Disease in Your Baby
What is congenital heart disease? A congenital heart disease is one that a baby is born with. Did I do something during pregnancy that made my baby have this problem? Probably not. Some things that happen in pregnancy can lead to a congenital heart problem in a baby, but often the reason for the heart disease is not known. Talk with your family doctor if you're worried that you caused your baby's heart problem, but don't blame yourself. I felt depressed when I found out my baby has a heart problem. Is that normal?

Healthy Heart Guide was created to educate people about the leading cause of death in men and women, cardiovascular disease. We are always researching the latest developments in heart care to learn about how we can improve our heart health, and lower our risks of getting heart disease.
Healthy Heart Guide - An Introduction
Why do you need to keep a healthy heart? Heart disease is the #1 cause of death in men and women, greater than the next five causes of death combined! According to the latest estimates by the American Heart Association, over 64 million Americans have one or more forms of cardiovascular disease (CVD). Fortunately, there are ways to significantly lower your chances of developing heart disease and reverse the effects of a current heart condition you may or may not be aware of. Lower cholesterol, triglycerides, homocysteine and CRP levels are a start to promoting healthy hearts.

NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Cardiac Transplantation Team The surgeons and cardiologists of NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia have a long and distinguished history of advancing "standards of care" by using innovative surgical techniques, applying our basic scientific research in immunosuppression to the clinical setting, and inventing and perfecting life-sustaining cardiac assist devices that prolong life during the wait for organ availability. We are recognized leaders in the development of left ventricular assist devices (LVADs) that can either be used to prolong life while waiting for organ availability, or as a destination therapy for patients who are not eligible for transplantation. See more heart health pictures Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the U.S. At some point in your life, either you or one of your loved ones will be forced to make decisions about some aspect of heart disease. Knowing something about the anatomy and functioning of the heart, in particular how angina and heart attacks work, will enable you to make informed decisions about your health. Heart disease can strike suddenly and require you to make decisions quickly. Being informed prior to an emergency is a valuable asset to you and your family. In this article we will discuss various heart diseases and how they can lead to a heart attack, or even a stroke. We will also look at how heart attacks are treated and what you should do to prevent heart disease. The basics Coronary Artery Disease (CAD), Coronary Heart Disease (CHD), Ischemic Heart Disease (IHD) and Arteriosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease (ASCVD) are all different names for the same disease. This disease is caused by atherosclerosis, which is a buildup of fatty deposits (atheroma) in the coronary arteries. See the figure below:

T HANKS FOR dropping by my web site. At the age of 43 I had a heart attack, three years later in 2000 I had a quadruple heart bypass operation so should I roll over and give in to heart disease. The answer yes would have been easy, instead I changed my diet and my lifestyle. I am now addressing my working life. No more long hours, more time at home and more time away on holiday.
I went back to work, went back to some old ways and now wish I hadn’t. I ended up being very stressed and had some old symptoms returning. So I don’t intend to do that again and now I want to concentrate on having some quality time doing what I need to do. Part of quality to me is the Costa Del Sol in Spain and I have been several times, Maybe I will end up there who knows?
Here you will see links to some apartments I can recommend them follow the link.
Make sure most of all that you make time for you and your family as part of your recovery and you will get better and stay better if you make those life changes.

    http://www.heartpoint.com/mi.html
HEART ATTACK (also known as "MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION") HeartPoint animation: this will take approximately 1 minute to load.
The proper use of the non-medical term "heart attack" is "Myocardial Infarction". Either term is scary. "Myocardial Infarction" (abbreviated as "MI") means there is death of some of the muscle cells of the heart as a result of a lack of supply of oxygen and other nutrients. This lack of supply is caused by closure of the artery ("coronary artery") that supplies that particular part of the heart muscle with blood. This occurs 98% of the time from the process of arteriosclerosis ("hardening of the arteries") in coronary vessels. Although it once was felt that most heart attacks were caused from the slow closure of an artery, say from 90 or 95% to 100%, it is now clear that this process can occur in even minor blockages where there is rupture of the cholesterol plaque. This in turn causes blood clotting within the artery, blocking the flow of blood. This sort of event is illustrated above. The heart muscle which is injured in this way can cause irregular rhythms which can be fatal, even when there is enough muscle left to pump plenty of blood. When the injured area heals, it will leave a scar. While the heart won't be able to pump quite as much as before, there is often plenty of good muscle left to take care of the job, and recovery can be quite complete. While heart attacks are clearly scary, with modern techniques, patients survive most of them. Furthermore, most can have a long and satisfying life, perhaps more satisfying than before. The History of the Ladakh Heart Foundation
The work of the Ladakh Heart Foundation began serendipitously in 1997 when Lama Chogyal, a monk and the president of the LHF, was stuck in New Dehli while trying to obtain a visa to go to England. He decided to make constructive use of his time by visiting Ladakhi patients who were in Dehli hospitals. This experience taught Lama Chogyal two basic things: (a) many Ladakhi people have preventable heart disease and (b) that it was a jarring and overwhelmingly expensive experience for Ladakhi people to come to Dehli and stumble their way through what was basically a foreign country trying to find medical care for their illnesses. The Overall Goals of the Ladakh Heart Foundation

We are particularly interested in providing surgical repair for children who have congenital heart diseases (CHD). Provide free state of the art medical care for all Ladakhi citizens who have cardiovascular disease who can not afford treatment. Become a referral hospital for Indian citizens living in adjacent states who have cardiovascular disease.
