Extreme Heat
Heat kills by pushing the human body beyond its limits. In extreme heat and high humidity, evaporation is slowed and the body must work extra hard to maintain a normal temperature. Most heat disorders occur because the victim has been overexposed to heat or has over-exercised for his or her age and physical condition. Older adults, young children, and those who are sick or overweight are more likely to succumb to extreme heat. Conditions that can induce heat-related illnesses include stagnant atmospheric conditions and poor air quality. Consequently, people living in urban areas may be at greater risk from the effects of a prolonged heat wave than those living in rural areas. Also, asphalt and concrete store heat longer and gradually release heat at night, which can produce higher nighttime temperatures known as the "urban heat island effect." How can I protect myself from extreme heat?

Future Heat Waves: More Severe, More Frequent, Longer Lasting August 12, 2004 Gerald Meehl and Claudia Tebaldi, both of NCAR, examined Earth's future climate using the Parallel Climate Model, developed by NCAR and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). NCAR's primary sponsor, the National Science Foundation, and the DOE funded the study, with additional support from NCAR's Weather and Climate Impact Assessment Initiative. Chicago and other cities across North America and Europe face more extreme heat waves in the 21st century. (Photo courtesy City of Chicago/Peter J. Schulz.) Model results show that an increase in heat-absorbing greenhouse gases intensifies an unusual atmospheric circulation pattern already observed during heat waves in Europe and North America. As the pattern becomes more pronounced, severe heat waves occur in the Mediterranean region and the southern and western United States. Other parts of France, Germany, and the Balkans also become more susceptible to severe heat waves.

Heat: A Major Killer Heat is the number one weather-related killer in the United States. The National Weather Service statistical data shows that heat causes more fatalities per year than floods, lightning, tornadoes and hurricanes combined. Based on the 10-year average from 2000 to 2009, excessive heat claims an average of 162 lives a year. By contrast, hurricanes killed 117; floods 65; tornadoes, 62; and lightning, 48. In the disastrous heat wave of 1980 , more than 1,250 people died. In the heat wave of 1995 more than 700 deaths in the Chicago area were attributed to heat. In August 2003, a record heat wave in Europe claimed an estimated 50,000 lives. North American summers are hot; most summers see heat waves in or more parts of the United States. East of the Rockies, they tend to combine both high temperature and high humidity, although some of the worst heat waves have been catastrophically dry. Additional detail on how heat impacts the human body is provided under " The Hazards of Excessive Heat " heading.

For instance, people with a medical condition that causes poor blood circulation, and those who take medications to get rid of water from the body (diuretics) or for certain skin conditions, may be more susceptible to heat. Consult with a physician if you have any questions about how your medication may affect your ability to tolerate heat. Consideration should also be given to your pet and animals. Ensure they have a cool place out of the direct sunlight to rest. Do not encourage excessive play or work activities for an animal during a heat wave. Make sure your animals have access to plenty of fresh cool water to keep them hydrated as well. Familiarize yourself with these terms to help identify a heat related hazards.

HEAT WAVES
HEAT WAVES : MAKES THE TREND ANALYZER HOT
We have added new indicator called HEAT WAVES in Trend Analyzer which can provide an edge to traders in trading.
What are HEAT WAVES ?
HEAT WAVES is the indicator that indicates the strength of a stock that means it shows how much oversold or overbought the stock is. Red colour shows the stock is oversold and green colour reflects the overbought condition of the stock.
Bright colour shows the level or strength of overbought / oversold condition in the stock.
HOW TO USE HEAT WAVES:
HEAT WAVES does not work independently, it works best on momentum indicators. Therefore traders need to apply any indicator before applying HEAT WAVES . Let say user apply CCI, then HEAT WAVES will show the level of overbought/oversold condition in the stock as per CCI. Similarly traders can apply different indiacators like RSI and measure the strength of overbought/ oversold condition in the stock.
Traders are advised to take signal in the direction of momentum that means in an uptrend traders should look for buying signals provided by HEAT WAVES, similarly in down trending stocks traders should search for sell signals as per HEAT WAVES.
Here are the few examples:
HEAT WAVES also helps day traders in getting some high probability trades.HERE is example of HCC which provides buy signal on 60-Min chart.
