Karma and Reincarnation
The twin beliefs of karma and reincarnation are among Hinduism's many jewels of knowledge. Others include dharma or our pattern of religious conduct, worshipful communion with God and Gods, the necessary guidance of the Sat Guru, and finally enlightenment through personal realization of our identity in and with God. So the strong-shouldered and keen-minded rishis knew and stated in the Vedas. And these are not mere assumptions of probing, brilliant minds. They are laws of the cosmos. As God's force of gravity shapes cosmic order, karma shapes experiential order. Our long sequence of lives is a tapestry of creating and resolving karmas-positive, negative and an amalgam of the two. During the succession of a soul's lives-through the mysteries of our higher chakras and God's and Guru's Grace-no karmic situation will arise that exceeds an individual's ability to resolve it in love and understanding. Many people are very curious about their past lives and expend great time, effort and money to explore them. Actually, this curious probing into past lives is unnecessary. Indeed it is a natural protection from reliving past trauma or becoming infatuated more with our past lives that our present life that the inner recesses of the muladhara memory chakra are not easily accessed. For, as we exist now is a sum total of all our past lives. In our present moment, our mind and body state is the cumulative result of the entire spectrum of our past lives. So, no matter how great the intellectual knowing of these two key principles, it is how we currently live that positively shapes karma and unfolds us spiritually. Knowing the laws, we are responsible to resolve blossoming karmas from past lives and create karma that, projected into the future, will advance, not hinder, us.

What is Dal Sabzi for the Aatman
Dal Sabzi for the Aatman is a website dedicated to spreading a message of spirituality through the medium of weekly e-mail message by Shakun Narain. There are no universal answers to the meaning of life. I like to believe that it is a journey to the Source... its ups and downs are a lesson...Yet all journeys start with the first step...the first step towards the philosophic quest is the enquiry: "Athato Brahmn Jignasa"... Then starts the sadhana , the spiritual effort the seeker puts in. The word sadhana is derived from the root word 'sidh' which means 'to be accomplished' in 'seeking divinity' The quest starts 'out' (pravritti marg) and must end 'in' (nivritti marg) and in the knowing that there is no 'separation'... There is a lot of information on Spirituality on the internet. One could 'search' for almost anything that one would like to learn about...What I have however tried to do, is to write for a lay person... my effort lies in keeping such a 'heavy' subject light and readable. What is Spirituality?

Daily Life and Hinduism: This chapter illustrates Hinduism ain daily life. Hinduism is practised and lived, it is not only a matter of thought and philosophy. We go beyond the texts and institutions and show you the influence that Hinduism exerts on common people's lives. Aiyanar: The God Aiyanar holds an important position in local villages all around Tamil Nadu. Aiyanar worship represents a non-learned, non Brahmanical form of worship. Often Aiyanar is depicted riding on a white horse fighting against demons that are threatening the village. Aiyappan: Every year a large number of pilgrims assemble on and around the Sabari mountain in the jungles of Southern Kerala. In 1999 more than ten million people went there on the 14th of January. Part Seven Part One Self- Atma The Teachings of Sri Ramana Maharshi Edited by David Godman Question : What is Reality? Sri Ramana Maharshi The reality which is the mere consciousness that remains when ignorance is destroyed along with knowledge of objects, alone is the Self (Atma). In that Brahma-swarupa (real form of Brahman), which is abundant Self-awareness, there is not the least ignorance. The reality which shines fully, without misery and without a body, not only when the world is known but also when the world is not known, is your real form (nija-swarupa). The radiance of consciousness-bliss, in the form of one awareness shining equally within and without, is the supreme and blissful primal reality. Its form is silence and it is declared by Jnanis (Self-realised) to be the final and unobstructable state of true knowledge (jnana). Know that jnana alone is non-attachment; jnana alone is purity; jnana is the attainment of God; jnana which is devoid of forgetfulness of Self alone is immortality; jnana alone is everything.

While the old gods of the Vedas (Indra, Agni, Dyaus, Mitra, Varuna, etc. [ note eventually were demoted by Hinduism to a position inferior to the Vedas themselves, in the Upanis.ads Brahman ] Such a personal Brahman, whether formulated philosophically or not, comes to be identified in popular religion with either Vis.n.u or Shiva. Since different gods are thus proposed as the One God, Hinduism is an unusual kind of monotheism: it contains virtual sub-religions consisting of the devotees of Vis.n.u, the Vaishnavites, and the devotees of Shiva, the Shaivites. It is best to see this as an instance of the " multiplicity of explanations On the other hand, the earlier ] Since the personal Gods could all be seen on the same footing in relation to an impersonal Brahman, an attempt was made, we know not by whom, to tidy up things through the doctrine of the (the masculine form of Brahman), was a creator God in the Vedas (more or less identifiable with Prajapati kalpa He then sleeps for another kalpa karma The most important feature of the cult of Vis.n.u
