Wyoming Historical Maps
L. C. Bishop Emigrant Trail Map Series
L.C. Bishop was born at Fort Fetterman in 1885, became a county surveyor and then an engineer, finally serving as Wyoming State Engineer from 1939 until 1957. He was proud of Wyoming and served the state's needs both as a government worker and as a volunteer. He actively studied Wyoming history and was a charter member of the Wyoming State Historical Society. In 1958 he served as the Executive Vice President of the Wyoming Pony Express Centennial Board. Bishop extensively mapped many of the state's emigrant trails and stage, express, and freight roads. Wyoming State Archives is caretaker of several of Bishop's map series, including Ranch Maps, Site Maps, and Emigrant Trail Maps.
The Historical Landmark Commission of Wyoming in 1957 worked with L.C. Bishop to begin mapping the emigrant trails of Wyoming. Bishop had criticized some of the marking efforts of the Commission, and he won political support for his concerns. The Wyoming State Legislature appropriated money to map the historic trails of Wyoming and placed the responsibility for the mapping in the hands of Bishop and the Historical Landmark Commission of Wyoming. The Commission's responsibilities were transferred to the State Library, Archives, and Historical Board in 1959; along with that went the responsibility of reimbursing Bishop for his work.
The 11 map series details the "Emigrant, Stage, Pony Express, and Freight Roads" of early Wyoming. Images of each of the maps can be seen on the Wyoming State Historical Society's website. The original maps are 17½ inches wide by 23½ inches high.

Surrounded by inhospitable desert, this river, with its predicable seasonal flooding, allowed a culture to develop to such heights that it was able to build many of the world's greatest monuments near its shores. This Historical Maps section lets you explore many of those monuments and geographical features that captured the imagination of people from antiquity to the present.
Presented are three successively larger views of areas in Egypt. The first is the Giza Plateau, where the greatest of the Egyptian pyramids reside. Giza is also where archeologists have recently discovered what is believed to be the city in which the builders of these colossal structures worked and lived. The second map zooms out further to show the most fertile area of ancient construction, the area of Lower Egypt. Finally, we zoom out all the way to show a complete map of modern day Egypt to show just how far the influence of this ancient civilization reached.

    The Oath of Armenian Unity
We vow always to work toward the betterment of the Armenian nation the nation of people known as the Armenians worldwide, and at home in the Armenian homeland.
We vow to work toward bridging cultural, political and ideological differences among Armenians in the Armenian homeland and throughout the Diaspora.
We vow to help our Armenian sisters and brothers rise in the world and move towards our common goal. We will not engage in fraternal in-fighting.
We vow always to reach toward our fellow Armenian sisters and brothers in sincere love. Love is the foundation of our unity. In the end, if we have nothing else in common, we all love our children. Let us also love the children of one another with the same passion thus we will love our nation.
We vow to create, cultivate and live by the ideal of Armenian unity. This means, that while we will inevitably disagree on many subjects even fundamental subjects we will continue to work with one another, trusting in each other's good will toward the future of our people.
