Government of Hungary The President of the Republic, elected by the National Assembly every 5 years, has a largely ceremonial role, but powers also include appointing the prime minister. The prime minister selects cabinet ministers and has the exclusive right to dismiss them. Each cabinet nominee appears before one or more parliamentary committees in consultative open hearings and must be formally approved by the president. The unicameral, 386-member National Assembly is the highest organ of state authority and initiates and approves legislation sponsored by the prime minister. A party must win at least 5% of the national vote to form a parliamentary faction. National parliamentary elections are held every 4 years (the last in April 2002). A 15-member Constitutional Court has power to challenge legislation on grounds of unconstitutionality.

    Hungary Government
Hungary Government can be classified among the other parliamentary democracies of the world. The structure of the government includes a President of the Republic, who is largely a titular head and is elected by the Parliament for a term of 5 years. Fresh Presidential elections are held after an interval of every 5 years. The Hungary President is largely concerned with negotiating the dates of the parliamentary elections. The Parliament of Hungary or its National Assembly also elects the Prime Minister. It is the duty of the Hungary Prime Minister to elect his Cabinet of Ministers. Simultaneously, the power to dispel ministers from the cabinet also lies with the Prime Minister.
The major body within the framework of Hungary's government is the National Assembly, which is vested with the highest authority to approve or dispel legislations passed by the country's Prime Minister. The unicameral parliament elects a total of 386 members through parliamentary elections, which are held after every 4 years. However, there is a separate Constitutional court, which can challenge the legislations passed by the government of Hungary. The constitution of the country has laid down provisions for the election and working of the Hungarian government. The major players within the government of Hungary are its judicial body and the legislative body.
