Hypnosis College and Clinic of Hypnotherapy
The Hypnosis Motivation Institute , HMI, is a non-profit nationally accredited hypnosis training college and clinic of hypnotherapy that has been serving Southern California for more than 40 years. HMI was founded in 1968 by Dr. John Kappas. Dr. Kappas literally defined the profession of hypnotherapy in 1973, when he wrote and defined the profession of a "Hypnotherapist" in the Federal Dictionary of Occupational Titles. That definition remains in force and unchanged today. HMI has earned the distinction of being America's first hypnotherapy training institution to become nationally accredited, by an accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, in Washington, D.C. HMI's Hypnotherapy Clinic is home to over 50 Certified Hypnotherapists . HMI estimates that it has provided more than 250,000 hours of private hypnotherapy services in its 40 year history. It is this clinical experience that provides the foundation for HMI's Hypnotherapy Certification Training and Internship program. The Hypnosis Motivation Institute strives to offer the most extensive and thorough hypnotherapy training and internship program available. Become a

It is usually induced by a procedure known as a hypnotic induction, which is commonly composed of a long series of preliminary instructions and suggestions. Hypnotic suggestions may be delivered by a hypnotist in the presence of the subject, or may be self-administered ("self-suggestion" or "autosuggestion"). The use of hypnotism for therapeutic purposes is referred to as " hypnotherapy The words 'hypnosis' and 'hypnotism' both derive from the term "neuro-hypnotism" (nervous sleep) coined by the Scottish surgeon James Braid around 1841. INSIGHTS AND CONFESSIONS OF AN
ENGLISH HYPNOTIST "All truth passes through three stages:
first, it is ridiculed;
next it is violently attacked;
finally, it is held to be self-evident."
Schopenhauer
Never before has there been such a contentious expose of hypnosis as this, revealing another perception of the truth, making it plain for all to see the reality of hypnotism, how it really works, the authenticity of hypnosis, hypnotherapy qualifications, what we are led to believe, and also how stage hypnosis works, and the potential dangers of hypnosis. DR.JEREMY WHEELER
In the late 1980 s Dr.Jeremy Wheeler trained as a hypnotherapist, and later diverted into stage hypnosis. Most of his hypnotic shows emanated from re-bookings making him one of the busiest comedy hypnotists in the business. Giving up a profession that was earning him a small fortune, for very little work, was hard to walk away from. Jeremy feels it is only morally right for the public to see a different perspective based around this highly controversial subject, hypnosis, hypnotherapy, stage hypnosis, and the dangers of hypnosis, and who better to tell the story than someone with first-hand experience, an expert in his own field, even though he has now completely withdrawn from this profession.

Imagine yourself in a quiet, secure setting with someone you have learned to trust. You are focused on your breathing, allowing your body to experience a deep state of physical relaxation and comfort as you consciously follow the lead of your facilitator. Later, you may visit a serene meadow or travel deep into the structure of your own body, exploring the operation of your immune system. In a few moments, you will open your eyes felling relaxed, alert and at ease. Hypnosis is defined as a state of heightened awareness coupled with a deep sense of physical relaxation while remaining focused on a single idea or series of related ideas. It is not unlike the experience of becoming engrossed in a movie or a good novel and losing track of what is going on around you. Hypnosis is not a surrender of control or a deep unconscious sleep. While hypnotized, you will never do what you would not normally do in your regular conscious state. In fact, hypnosis is the most natural of mental states; it is a state that allows access to your deepest subconscious patterns of behavior and response. When someone is confronted by the specter of a cancer diagnosis, the fear of the unknown begins to take over, both for the patient and the family. This alone can contribute to an enormous level of anxiety and worry on top of the normal stresses of day-to-day life. Many times, someone facing the prospect of aggressive medical treatment protocols will feel a sense of helplessness and a loss of control over his or her own life. Hypnosis is a powerful tool for creating new, more effective coping mechanisms to manage these stresses with a sense of control while in the healing process. Regaining that all-important sense of control and reducing the associated stress and anxiety of coping with cancer allows the perspective of hopelessness to become one of hopefulness.

About hypnosis
what is hypnosis?
Perhaps the greatest mystery about hypnosis is that it's seen as something mysterious. It's a fundamental human trait, shared by every living person on the planet. Everybody reading this article will experience a hypnotic state at some point today, if they haven't done so already. Hypnosis is so hardwired into us, in fact, that you can't get through the day without experiencing it, any more than you can get through the day without experiencing some form of emotion. That said, there has certainly been a great deal of debate about the details. This debate has usually revolved around the psychobiological aspects of hypnosis, ie, what's actually going on in the brain when we're in a hypnotic state. Some commentators believe that hypnosis produces an altered state of consciousness, others believe that nothing happens at all. Still others believe that hypnotic subjects just act to please the hypnotist! Leaving aside the question about what a "normal" state of consciousness is anyway, advances in neuroscience, and the ability to monitor brain activity as it happens, have shown that hypnosis does indeed have a demonstrable effect on the brain. In a famous experiment at Stanford University , students were connected to a brain imaging machine whilst looking at a black and white picture. Under hypnosis, the students were told that the picture was in fact in colour - and the brain scans showed that the areas of the brain which process colour became active when that suggestion was made.

    When you hear the word hypnosis , you may picture the mysterious hypnotist figure popularized in movies, comic books and television. This ominous, goateed man waves a pocket watch back and forth, guiding his subject into a semi-sleep, zombie-like state. Once hypnotized, the subject is compelled to obey, no matter how strange or immoral the request. Muttering "Yes, master," the subject does the hypnotist's evil bidding. This popular representation bears little resemblance to actual hypnotism, of course. In fact, modern understanding of hypnosis contradicts this conception on several key points. Subjects in a hypnotic trance are not slaves to their "masters" they have absolute free will . And they're not really in a semi-sleep state they're actually hyperattentive Our understanding of hypnosis has advanced a great deal in the past century, but the phenomenon is still a mystery of sorts. In this article, we'll look at some popular theories of hypnosis and explore the various ways hypnotists put their art to work.

    Hypnosis Personalized for YOU Hypnosis is a kind of therapy that only works best if it is tailored specifically to your needs. Dr. Volz will ask you all about the details concerning your goal. He'll get to know YOU as an individual and if he chooses to take you on as a client, he will use that information to design a hypnosis program that will ensure your success. By contrast, group hypnosis seminars and recordings use scripts that are supposed to be one-size-fits-all and don't usually work. Big hypnosis chains can't monitor everyone they hire and so either consistency cannot be guaranteed or the service is "cookie cutter". Believe it or not, many hypnotists have no more than 100 hours of training. Dr. Volz has years of experience with several different kinds of hypnosis, neurolinguistics, EFT, behavioral and coaching techniques. So even if you think you can't be hypnotized he can help you!
