Idaho Teacher Certification: Where Can I Get My Idaho Teaching Certification?
Prerequisite coursework, teacher preparation and testing requirements need to be met for teaching certification in the state of Idaho. The teacher preparation program must be accredited. There is no credit hour requirement imposed by the state. Most states require a basic skills test and a Subject Area Competence assessment; Idaho does not require the basic skills test for certification of teachers, but applicants do need to pass the Praxis II tests.
Where to Find Idaho Teachers' Certification Materials
Teaching certification is administered by the Idaho State Department of Education. The department has the application packets available; obtain one of these to get the process started. You must have taken necessary coursework and demonstrate 'good moral character' to be considered for Idaho teaching certification. A recommendation from your college meets this requirement.

The Idaho public education system has been shown in a rather misleading light. There has been quite a large amount of commotion regarding the salaries of teachers in Idaho. Many of the head spokesmen of the Idaho teacher's unions are proclaiming their teachers are being drastically underpaid. This might be the case with regard to the difficulty and importance of a teacher's job; however, on the flip side, these types of campaigns may be deterring highly qualified people from becoming teachers when they feel their talents may be better appreciated in other fields. The truth of the matter is that a teacher's salary is comparable to other professions when adjusting income with the addition of benefits as well as acknowledging a teacher's salary to be based on working nine months out of the year.
    Future Idaho Teachers:
Current Idaho Teachers and Administrators: The future of Idaho's public education rests in the hands of those with years of experience under their belts. If there is any occupation that has a just and necessary hierarchy, it is education. New teachers and students need to learn the importance of quality education through veteran teachers who are supported by administrators who both have a thorough understanding of current issues and modern solutions to our educating difficulties. In depth information regarding current Idaho educational issues and complicated solutions based on student-data, modern theoretical teaching practices, systems thinking, resource management and understanding of ethical leadership are found in the top, accredited university programs. Earn your Master's degree, PhD or Administrative Credentials and be a leader in the push for Idaho's educational progress.

Idaho teacher certification Alternative pathways to a teaching career in Idaho open to highly qualified content specialists and computerbased applicants

    Idaho Teacher Certification:
    Alternative Pathways
Idaho teacher certification opens a world of opportunity for teaching careers. If you are a mid-career changer to the teaching profession you need an alternative pathway to a teaching license. Idaho offers two such alternate routes. One is for content specialists , i.e. teachers in high-need subject areas who lack certification but have mastery-level skills. Teachers of math, science, and foreign languages often fit into this cagtegory. Another offers an interim teaching certificate in a computer-based program Living and teaching in Idaho offer a wonderful range of lifestyles and careers. The state offers some of the best outdoor living in the country. From Boise in the south to Coeur d'Alene in the north, there are many cities and towns in Idaho worth looking into. And there are many rural areas with great beauty and interesting people. Often it is in rural areas that the best opportunities are found for becoming a new teacher in Idaho. Smaller towns, too, need teachers in high-need subject areas. Such places are more willing to hire applicants who are still working toward Idaho teacher certification. Online credits or an online degree may help fill the gaps in your transcripts.

Basic Steps for an Idaho Teacher Certificate:
New teachers who have just graduated from a certified Idaho teacher program need to apply for an Initial Certificate. You must hold a bachelor's degree and complete a student teacher program. You must also obtain a recommendation from their teaching program. You must then pass a content knowledge assessment.
    Information for Teachers Certified Elsewhere:
If a teacher holds an out-of-state professional certificate or has completed a state-approved educator program and received a recommendation form from another state, then they may be eligible for teacher certification. Specific Idaho requirements may need to be completed based on individual experience and credentials. Recent out-of-state experience may exempt some requirements for certified professionals from other states.
